So long, Jae Hee
by javabeans
…and thanks for all the fish!
Jae Hee just received his papers, so he’s enlisting for mandatory military service on August 5.
He’s currently busy filming a KBS drama, Hometown of Legends [전설의 고향] and has a film still to come out; Jae Hee explained that he was a little taken aback that the enlistment date was so near, with all the work he has planned, but he doesn’t plan to defer the date.
His upcoming movie, fantasy-action thriller Mandate (directed by Park Hee-jun, Raging Bull [성난 황소]), tells the story of the battle between a “ghost hunter” and the demon of serial killers he hunts. The movie releases in September, and Jae Hee is scheduled to begin official promotional activities next month, although his service date doesn’t leave him much time to do that. (Let’s just hope he doesn’t fall prey to that ubiquitous Overworked Celebrity Syndrome.)

i will miss him so much.
on the other hand, i'm not really interested in his upcoming drama. i understand that it's 8 episodes and each episode has a different story with different characters?

On a somewhat related note, I was just thinking the other day that it probably won't be long before Jang Geun Suk gets called up for military service soon, too. Do these young male actors have trouble getting back into the entertainment industry once they're finished with their military service? (It seems like a stretch to me, but do they keep in touch with their agents while they're away??)

Wow. This is so sudden. i didn't even think Jae Hee was that old. He doesn't look a year pass 26. This is really sad. Both Witch Yoo Hee and Three Dads One Mom was really disappointing for me. So I was hoping he'd come back with another romantic comedy. But August is just around the corner, so he doesn't have any time.
Gyengao, I dont think you have to worry about Jang Geun Suk leaving anytime soon. Do correct me if I'm wrong (I'm not korean so I don't know much about it) but from what I've seen men usually leave around the age of 28. Jang Geun Suk has many more years to go.
"Do these young male actors have trouble getting back into the entertainment industry once they’re finished with their military service?" Some actors return from the military and come back with sucessful dramas (Jang Hyuk's "Thank you". Ji Sung's "New Heart") while others stay in hiding (*ahem* won bin)

I kind of like that Jae Hee didn't defer his enlistment date. I'm rather tired of all the stars who put off their military service...

How can someone say Witch Yoo Hee and Three Dads One Mom is not funny? There not as good as Sassy Girl Chun-Hyang but I enjoyed the above dramas a lot. I give SGCH five out of five points and WYH and TDOM four out of five points. The only reason is because in TDOM, he was not the main star and in WYH, we was too damn skinny. I thought he was on drugs or something.

I am proud of him for his determination to not put off his military duties to his country. It is an honorable thing to do. I pray that he comes back alive, healthy in body and mind, and ready to do more films and T.V. I am sure he could use the money.(Has he purchased a house for his Mom yet?) And I could use some satisfaction for my obsession.

um. I think that someone, somewhere out there should feed us some tid bits to help us get through the next 2 years. I am a research junkie and I am not getting my fix! Could one of his friends put out a few more current photos of him on a website, or post a small interview (english translation please)? Please, please!!!!

Hi!
I did a little bit of research and found a few pictures I hadn't seen before. Wow! That was nice. mmmmm. But, I need more. Like, does anyone know what kind of food he likes, or maybe he doesn't like food. Other than working in a movie or T.V. series, does he have other hobbies, like photography? perhaps, or tasting different varieties of coffees or chocolates? Has he ever tried Licorice? What is his favorite color?
You think you could devulge any of this information?(smiling pretty)
Thanks,
Pan

What are "blank, blank" mini movies? Is "bulldog mansion" just and expression or is there a hidden meaning in it?

Pan, she's referring to the song of the day by music group Bulldog Mansion, who apparently have a set of mini movies which I haven't seen. Will have to check them out, though.

Pan, "oppa" means big brother (from a younger sister's perspective; when you're a younger brother, you call your big brother "hyeong") in Korean, while "mayabang" means "boastful" or an "airy person" in Filipino
