Okay, so I’m sure most of you have already seen, or heard of, the Will.i.am video that used as its base the “Yes We Can” speech made by Obama. Personally, I’m not really a fan of the video — well, half of me responds to its intended effect. The other half finds it overblown in its earnestness, and overblown earnestness always makes me uncomfortable. I feel like I have to crack a joke or something to break up the mood. I found Obama’s speech moving in its original incarnation, and didn’t need the remix, thank you very much. (And did you really need Scarlett Johansson, standing around uselessly? And a Pussycat Doll? For reals?)
But you know what I did need to see? This spinoff video, titled John.he.is — ha! Have you seen it yet? Politics aside, as a parody I particularly love the sign language and the confused faux-Scarlett.

I love Tegan & Sara. Okay, mainly Tegan. Even if I can never tell them apart.
"I want your lungs to stop working without me" my favorite line of all their songs, it's so rude and romantic. The Con is chalk full of clever, selfish and jealous lines that melts the cavity of where my heart use to be. Dark Come Soon has been played a total of 538 times according to my iPod.
Happy weekending.

i personalyy don't like it... i think WILL.I.AM could've done better..i'm disappointed...if they had nothing to add they should've done something different... at least the message is a good one, so can't be mad at him for trying... "YES WE CAN" .... ha ha ha... have a good week end people

I'm a huge Barack Obama supporter, but I definitely agree with your sentiments about the will.i.am video. I think it's moving, but embarassing, and it lends credence to all of the naysayers who say that Obama's more style than substance (which I totally don't agree with - because the man has his policy down). I don't know if you read the L.A. Times, but Joel Stein's 2/8/08 editorial, "He's got Obamaphilia" kind of sums it up perfectly: "[Obama] is Urkel with a better tailor. All of this is clear to me, and yet I have fallen victim."
And the John.he.is parody is great: "Cien anos . . . a hundred YEARS???"

akon, apparently it was just announced although it's not necessarily the very end of the year. they're going to air "I love you" and "Gourmet" after "King & I" ends, so Iljimae won't be on the schedule till after August.

I heard a Hilary parody on a radio show this morning - set to Jackson Five's "ABC"
but I can't find it anywhere, even on the radio show's website. :(

Ha. Just too much. There's a fine line separating the stage charisma of John F Kennedy and that of Ronald Reagan. I'd err on the former side, Obama.
Iljimae's delayed... so will MBC's version be coincidentally slated around the same time too?
I have like a ton of candies left over from V-Day. Love those pink/white/red M&M's. Did you know we can personalize M&Ms now? It's just so cool. Was wondering if anyone else has a favorite sweet tooth indulgence?

I love the John Cain parody video. Freaking amazing. Thanks! :)
I love the way HGD is going. Love it so much that I'm quite sad that I'm leaving for India next weekend (though it is GREAT that I'm going back after a long time), because I'll miss all the eps and all the discussion and have to catch up when I get back. No fun :( I hope to stay on top of your summaries, though!!
You know what else is no fun. Preparing for a wedding. In any culture. I hate dieting for the clothes, finding the clothes, getting ready in many ways. Ugh. Or going back to your home country after many, many years and be under the microscope by everyone you visit! Anybody felt that?
Mmmm chocopies. :)

16 Go Hilary Clinton
February 15, 2008 at 7:13 PM
creative videos. but i don't think obama has it to be our president. beside the experience he's just not strong and tactical enough to handful the politicians and the rest of the world. Hilary is more respected by others n knows what she's doing. she knows how to handle both the people and those tricky politicians. she can get ppl/politicians to do things n get them done b/c of her connections such as: get this healthcare thing done n so on. obama doesn't has the authority, i do admit he's a persuasive speaker. a few years later, maybe i'll vote for him, for now he's not there yet.

Oh gosh...I love Red Vines dearly. I have those 4 lb buckets that I constantly chew on....they're horribly addicting stuff.
And thanks for the response to the drama. After August it is then...any special impressions about "I Love You" or "Gourmet?" Outside of Hong Gil Dong, I'm dying for a good drama to come out. :/

well if the world is still intact by 12008...nah, McCain just ruined it.
ahaha Bob the builder, can we fix it? Bob the builder, "yes we can"! Bwahaha, oh AP Euro...
Well, we're living in groundbreaking history right now. Let's just bask in the moment and when we grow old and wrinkly, we can tell our grandchildren about 2008 (you know, if the world is still intact 50 years from now).

wow, that parody is just hilarious love how he is just left alone at the end. i agree the yes we can speech didn't need will.i.am's video i mean the speech in itself is pretty strong.......and seriously, lee jun ki's Iljimae being postponed ruins my plans :P lol i guess i'll have to wait, maybe with this i'll actually study when i have too!! and i'm a little late but Happy Valentine's Day

Everything I look forward to, I end up losing interest in (most of them are flops too).

Huh? frozen York patties? Ok, gotta try that this summer. Red Vines is a total classic. It just brings back fond memories of the first car and first dates and those really bad movies that only teenagers would sit through...Ah, nostalgia!
#16: I see some of your points. Obama is not the perfect candidate. I do have my doubts. But please, America, anyone but McCain.

#20 - hey, is there another hjk? Or, was I under hypnosis, and I just can't remember writing that post? I don't think I'm having blackouts (although, I am seriously tired today) or going senile, at least, not yet...
Anywho, I thought we were talking about favorite Vday candy. If everything's game, then I gotta agree that Red Vines are soooo addicting. Dang, I just ate half of a giant Hershey's kiss that one of my students gave me yesterday. Must.practice.self.control. ;)
merriwether, I'm also looking forward to checking out On-Air.
I still can't find that Hilary video. It sounded really funny on the radio, and the DJ's said it was even better with the visuals. :( Arghh!!

I feel that obama's campaign is too rock-starish. But then again both hillary and obama are just spurting out rhetoric to get votes.

McCain's war mongering policies aside, I still can't get over the fact that he used the word "gook" and basically got away with it.
If he had used a racial slur for another group, his political career would be over.

didn't care for the will.i.am video. way too sentimental for me. hahaha and scarlett johansson standing there with nothing to do. but i did love the parody. i've decided not to care about politics until sept-oct roll around b/c by then obama and clinton will have finished duking it out.
i read in the news today that Namdaemun, the #1 National Treasure of Korea, was destroyed in a fire earlier this week! so sad.
and yay for valentines day! i miss grade school days when everyone got valentines and candy from everyone else in their class... those were fun.

just gotta say love letter 283 was the best I've ever seen, thank god for dvr's
Lena Park, Dynamic Duo and Big Bang, didn't need that bottle of soju
I'll vote for anybody who promises to prosecute Cheney and/or GW as soon as they leave office. Not quite sure john.he.is was a parody since the object of the joke was McCain, not the original video, but again- that bottle of soju
