Ring in the Rat Year!
Any Rats around? Anybody think there’s anything to each zodiac sign’s characteristics? I don’t really pay too much attention to astrology or numerology or any of that but it’s still rather interesting. I always wonder if those stories of those super psychics are for real or total fabrication. Seems we can’t just accept anything as real anymore in this day and age, sadly.
SONG OF THE DAY
Badly Drawn Boy – “Year of the Rat” from the album “One Plus One Is One.” That’s my kind of math. I love Badly Drawn Boy, not least because he did the score/soundtrack to About A Boy, which I adore. (Speaking of, have you seen how that awkward little kid playing Marcus grew up? Hot.) [ zShare download ]
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Check out the video for “Year of the Rat” — it’s a little hippie-dippy, but I like how the lyrics actually correspond to the content.

*raises hand* I'm a rat(a wood rat according to some random website). I'm in your camp on all that stuff. It's neat, but I don't believe when I was born actually has that big an impact on my personality or my fate.
OMG. That kid's haircut in About a Boy was really unfortunate, but the difference is totally shocking. Boy is damn fine. And after a quick IMDB search I just realized I've seen him in Skins and didn't recognize him.

First of all, WOW. That can't be him!
(Ok, just checked out his age and he's over 18...and apparently 6'4"!)
Anyway, I'm a rat! And, oui, I don't believe in any of that stuff either. My mom and grandmothers are really into it, of course. Besides, I think I read somewhere that rats are hardworkers. I'm not.
Oh, and Happy New Year, everyone!

Happy Lunar New Year! But the most random thing happened yesterday! Hillary Clinton's camp decided to host a medicare talk at my school and it was totally last minute (the talk is happening right now!). I'm not a Hillary supporter, but I totally wanna go and see her (She was a First Lady and she's an influential figure in American politics, good enough reasons, I think). BUT...I have a class during the event AND the class's exam is going to be on Monday. The prof didn't cancel class...but I need to go because of that stupid exam. Dammit :( She's a 6 minute walk away from me.

Hurraah RATS! I saw one in the New York City subway...it was huge...
"About a Boy" was so sweet. We watched it during health class because we were on one of those mental units, and the mother is suicidal and more.
=O...Marcus? Holy crud..

Seriously, the boy has grown up well. If you read the Gawker blog Jezebel, the Jezzies call it a "reverse Savage" -- a "Savage" referring to Fred Savage (lol, sad) wherein a boy starts out adorable and ends up, well, NOT. Reverse Savages are much luckier, hehe.
About A Boy makes me giggle. Remember when Hugh Grant was always typecast as the lovelorn sap? I think he LOVED doing a movie much closer to his real persona. And I liked the movie better than the book for once, which feels a lot more dated. Then again, it's Nick Hornby and doesn't all his stuff read that way? lol.

I'm not a rat, but I do have another song called "Year of the Rat!" It's electronicish. I don't know if anyone's interested, but I have it uploaded.

I just read a book for the second time and I feel so devastated that it's ended. I kind of wanted to be in that world for a little longer.
Isn't that Marcus kid in Skins? It's this British racy teen show about kids partying, drinking and taking a lot of drugs and he plays the protagonist (who is supposedly the biggest manwhore ever).

I was also born Year of the Rat...I've read that good things will come upon those born under this animal...anyway I also don't believe in such things though it's not that bad to follow some beliefs but the most important thing is that we make our own future or destiny...Happy New Year ^ ^

Rat Baby here! Lol. Does that something about how young/old I am? :P Im not a believer of those set characteristics for each year follows suit. Some may apply. But not all thats for sure. Older people do believe in those stuff more though. I just hope all that good stuff that was said comes true. I certainly wish so. Echoing koalabear, the most important thing is what me make of our own destiny for sure.
Whoah for Marcus too!!

OMO, I'd never heard of Badly Drawn Boy before (I don't listen to the radio much anymore), but 'lo and behold, I was riding in the hubby's car tonight listening to KFOG (the local station for 'discerning listeners') and this song was playing. I was like, "OMG! This is the song that Javabeans posted!!!" - You have great taste in music!
Yesterday, I happened upon 'Eli Stone' and I was wondering when Jonny Lee Miller (Mansfield Park, Trainspotting) made the voyage over to American TV (I'm so out of touch with it - wait a minute, did I actually just say that I was out of touch with American TV? Is the world ending?). I didn't watch the episode but saw that he's using an American accent. Are all the great British actors moving to U.S. television? Ah, I miss Sick Boy...(the hotness, not the drugs ;) )

i'm a wood rat, so the chinese zodiac says. some of the qualities apply to me. some i'd like to apply to me. some are just untrue. (i don't really believe in zodiacs.)

Why would anyone want to move onto Billy Bob Thornton after Jonny Lee Miller???
LOL! The world is definitely ending...

My zodiac's a horse. According to my buddhist friend, we possess qualities of our zodiac. Therefore for horses, apparently we are proud, stubborn mulls. To 'rein us back', you need to take indirect paths to deal with us .
Can't remember what she said about the other zodiacs, it's fairly interesting theory but I'll take it like a pinch of salt, similar to my treatment of horoscopes.
And YES to the influx of red packets during Lunar New Year! Happy Lunar Year to all too :D
