Wow, it’s the last weekend before Christmas already? I’m so not the holiday-festivities type. Do you guys “do” the holidays or is it just another day off from school/work for you?
My friend asked today if my family did Christmas trees and gave me an unintentional pitying look when I said I hadn’t had one in at least a decade. Little did she know *I* was giving her a pitying look in return, my inside voice saying, “Honey, YOU’RE the one who just paid good money to cut down a thorny-bristled stump, dragged the log home, set up the constantly shedding tree to proudly display in the middle of your living space, decorated it with fire hazards, only to take it down at the end of the week, leaving behind a mound of pine needles and sap and a lingering medicinal smell in your apartment, and you feel sorry for ME?”
Like I said, not really keen on the holidays. It’s not out of dislike, just laziness. Bah humbug.
SONG OF THE DAY
Wham – “Last Christmas.” OMG I love Wham. They’re so unbelievably cheesy. Unironically, unabashedly, in-your-face cheesy. They remind me of my childhood; I used to get hooked on this song every year when inevitably the radio waves blasted a full month of bland — and yet aggravating — forced Christmas jolliness, and this was the only song whose infectious cheer didn’t want to make me go rampaging to inflict damage upon a faux-winter landscape of gaudy decorations. I don’t listen to the radio anymore but I bet they’re playing this song on an unending loop somewhere. Sometimes I bust this sucker out in the middle of summer just because I can. [ zShare download ]

hmmmn... is it bad?... well i still go for originals... the voice of george michael to me is very distinctive like listening to lenny kravitz music or janis joplin... maybe am getting old... speaking of the long gone era... i heard a cover of michael jackson's christmas song... dunno the title anymore but it was in good taste... the new version was done in R&B.... quite enchanting.
