Insoon Is Pretty (for a killer?)
by javabeans
The upcoming KBS Wednesday-Thursday drama Insoon Is Pretty is one I’m keeping my eye on. This is Kim Hyun Joo‘s (above left) comeback drama — although it bugs me that the word ‘comeback’ is misused an awful lot, thrown around to describe anything from a true comeback to merely a star’s next project (summer 2007’s Get Karl Oh Soo Jung was called a “comeback” vehicle for Oh Ji Ho, when his previous drama had only wrapped in December 2006!). Kim Hyun Joo’s last drama was the SBS series Marrying a Millionaire; she’d also previously appeared in Miss Kim’s Quest for a Billion Won and Glass Slippers. Newcomer Seo Hyo-rim (right) has been cast as the younger half-sister to Kim Hyun Joo’s titular Park Insoon. Her “ice princess” role was won after fierce competition in an audition process where she beat out 300 other hopefuls.
The director, Pyo Min Su, has a resume boasting some familiar titles, among them the light-hearted romances What Star Are You From? and Full House — but what catches my attention aren’t the stars or the production, it’s the story. The beautiful Insoon unintentionally kills someone and is sent away to prison — and now has emerged to face the cold judgment of the world, eventually overcoming her struggles as an ex-con to emerge victorious (not a spoiler; that’s the tagline accompanying the story description in all the media stories).
Insoon Is Pretty premieres on October 31 (Halloween!).
Think they make good sisters?
Also cast are Kim Min Joon (below left), Lee Wan (right), Lee In Hye (Delightful Girl Chun Hyang), and Jang Young Ran (Hello Miss).

Wow, the lead male actors are fiiinneee.... I like Lee Wan's looks but not necessarily his acting... Kim Hyun Joo is so pretty! I've watched her in Marrying a Millioonaire which was okay and Miss Kim's Billion Won Project which I liked very much! MKBWP wasn't wonderful but amusing all the same... :)

hmm..they don't really look like sisters to me, purely based on those pictures posted here. Kim Hyun Joo looks a bit like Son Ye Jin in the smiling picture while Seo Hyorim looks like Shin Minah in both pictures. She's got such a smiling eyes too..I wonder how she's supposed to be "ice princess" with that happy-go-lucky, smiling face.
In the midst of all these sagueks, this series seems like a random choice by KBS to show. But yet..maybe people are looking for a breath of fresh air too. I hope they get a fair chance at viewership.
And I agree...they use "Comeback" for everything. It is just another series for some of them. Another job, another project..It is not like we were all waiting for them to return to the screens for years. LOL.

I've been waiting for this drama since I read abt it in soompi. The main attraction for me is Kim Min-joon which I last saw him in Someday.
I think the word 'comeback' suitably applied for Lee Wan since I think this is his first drama since Tree of Heaven with Park Shin-hye. Please correct me if I'm wrong...
As for them NOT looking like sisters, bear in mind that they ARE half-sisters so appearance-wise, they may not look the same. Maybe in the drama, they have same mother but diff fathers, so they look more like their respective fathers than their mother.

Anonymous, i have to be absolutely shallow at this point and agree with u on the hotness of the lead males. Mr Kim is definitely rockin' that pose (sorry Javabeans I really haven't got anything remotely clever to say). As for the shows, all I hope is that we don't get a character that cries in every single episode. That gets annoying after the first 3 episodes or so.

Haha, you know, it actually took me some time to find that yummy pic of Mr. Kim Min Jun... he's currently in a shaggy-hairstyle-and-facial-hair phase, which normally I'm not against, but he's rockin' the Vincent Gallo look a little too closely. (While resembling Vincent Gallo might suggest "tortured auteur," it also unfortunately also suggests "pretentious and crazy.")

Kim Hyun Joo looks like the lead actress in Summer Scent and Full House. They are all so pretty and good korean actresses. Can't wait to see "Insoon is Pretty". I wonder why they're showing it on October 31 (pretty magical don't you think?)

Omigosh! another two of my favorites. Kim Hyun Joo and lee wan. I'll watch this. I think the plot is interesting. I'd like to see if Lee Wan has improved in his acting. I sure think he's got a lot of potential. I see him being wide eyed when concentrating too much on a scene hopefully there would be less of that this time.

i think lee wan is so gorgeous... just look at those dreamy eyes... i'm a girl btw ;) (my name is after my favorite stuffed monkey) anyhoo.. it's completely off-putting that his character is a low-life.. along the lines of how the heroine of the story is an ex-convict i suppose... it all makes for a good plot though... just watching insoon struggle to make her way in the world is pretty heart-wrenching.. and the not-so-perfect things in the lives of the various people involved keeps it interesting...
