Personal taste but I find some of KES dramas cheesy, shallow, commercial and plotless. I dropped both The Heirs and Descendants of the Sun o_O. I think many other screenwriters deserve more popularity
Same, I just really couldn’t care less about The Heirs and Descendants of the Sun. Have you seen Goblin? I’m watching it right now and think it’s really good.
I think some of these dramas are popular because of the famous lead cast & also due to fan service e.g. strong woman do bong soon etc. The plot are sometimes overly cheesy and too much romance (the plot needs to be better in my pov)
But aren’t people allowed to like cheesy and commercial dramas? This is a serious question, not being sarcastic at all. I really want to know if there’s something wrong with liking these kinds of shows. I’m sure Kim Eun-sook works hard to write her scripts.
No not at all! I think people shouldn’t be judged for what they like! 🙂 I admittedly watched cheesy and commercial dramas a lot because the reality is too boring haha. But I just also think that these types of dramas may lack values such as creativity and insightfulness because they are created for mass audience to get addicted to in the first place. I think it is safe to assume that mass audiences like something digestible (easy plots to follow), unrealistically romantic (because life is so stressful!) and visually beautiful (oppa!). I just want to be conscious as an audience — understanding why I like something, and pay attention to other works that may not create as much buzz but deserve equal attention. This is such an interesting question to think about though!!
Believe it or not, I got confused with myself too and thought of personal taste when I wrote this comment. But I was like, nobody would get confused besides me, that drama was ages ago! LOL.

I thought you started your comment with mentioning the drama: “Personal taste” and got confused for a second.
