If there is a Dramabeans app, I will cry for happiness.

    That makes us two.
This idea occurred to me in the past few weeks.
I was going to post it as a suggestion but I thought DB staff is busy as it is so why should I throw out ideas I can’t help in fulfilling. 😁😁😁

Haha it occurred to me but it is totally fine if there is no app. The great content here is what matters most to me! 🙂

I’ve been wanting an app this whole year. It’s just easier…plus a DB app right next to all my other Korean related apps would be sweeeet….but your right they’re busy. One thing at a time.

      Very sweet indeed.
What are the Korean related apps that you have?! 😋😁

      1
      2

Mm let’s see the obvious ones Viki, Dramafever, Kocowa then there’s google translate & TV show tracker, Naver, V live, K-phrases(which uses clips from dramas to learn phrases), Games -guess Korean drama & Korean drama, kpop music, Amino, GOT7, Naver Webtoon, Daum Webtoon, Drops(Korean) , Duolingo(Korean), KFGB, talk to me in Korean, pop popping Korean, kpop eng, Korean 1 2 3, Korean ltrs and KCON. I should use them all more often but these are all pretty cool.

@waadmay what about you? 🙂 Do you have any?

        1
        5

Yes I do have my fair share of Korean related Apps.
The obvious ones Viki, DramaFever, Mondly Korean, Google translate, Kakao talk and story, Line messenger, Naver WEBTOON in English and Korean, Kpopway Radio & Community, Spottoon, Grammar Haja,Weibo in English and Chinese, Learn Japanese and a game called Line Rangers.
But I want to ask you something. How do you have Duolingo in Korean?!
I searched it and it has this option learn English for Korean.

          1
          1

            @waadmay
Ohh cool. I keep forgetting to get Weibo.
I think Duolingo just added Korean. I knew they were working on it for a while so I checked back. On the app under Courses then for English speakers it will have multiple languages and Korean will be right there. Unless maybe it’s an update thing you need to do?

            1

Thanks I know that but I checked it the last month and it wasn’t added yet .
First are you using Naver ?
Kpop music is it a radio ?
what is Amino,GOT7,Drops,KFGB ,pop popping Korean, kpop eng ?
are these apps learning apps (talk to me in Korean Korean 1 2 3, Korean ltrs and KCON ?
what webtoons does Daum webtoon present ?

          1

Yeap I have Naver. Still working out how it works it’s pretty cool though. Kpop music mmm it’s not a radio it’s a player for Kpop YouTube videos. It sounds strange but I like it. Amino is a fan community app. They have a bunch of groups with leaders and cool blog posts within the subgroups. They have lots of Kpop but loads of other subjects. GOT7 app is an amino in a separate app for just GOT7. It’s too cute!!Kpop eng is another amino app. I guess I have a few of those. KCON is an app for the Korea convention that just happened. Learning Apps -> Drops is a 5 min a day Korean Lang game. KFGB it’s a Korean food guidebook. It’s cool it has pictures and explanations of different foods. 😋 Pop popping Korean, Korean ltrs, Korean 1,2,3 are all about practicing Korean lettering order and sounds. Daum Webtoon is actually my newest one so I’m not sure what it has yet.

          Ok cool.
I tried to add Korean to Duolingo but I couldn’t I guess it needs an update but there is none right now, maybe it’s according to areas.
Where are you from by the way?!

          1
          1

Mmm I’m sure it will work soon. 🙂

Wow, preview for the next episode of My Sassy Girl. Has Joo Won ever been in a drama where he is not beat up? (except Tomorrow Cantabile) 😛

My Sassy Girl is playing with my Gaksital nostalgia. Ghost Mask? Are you serious? LOL.

Re-marathon Gaksital today. This show isn\’t without flaws but it destroys me emotionally. I can\’t get over how war killed their boyhood, innocence and friendship. Why\’d humanity ever let wars happen?

Gonna re-marathon Healer tonight because that show was perfect :P. I ship Park Min Young and Ji Chang Wook <3.

Right now real life is too stressful for me to watch something complicated like #Circle. But this series is definitely is on my list. Seems so interesting and important.

You know what, I am starting to think Gyun Woo is actually not the child of his parents. Maybe he was adopted. #mysassygirl

Nevermind. That’s impossible. I am just being confusing. Maybe he just witnessed something and forgot.

I haven’t watch yesterday’s epi yet but i figured there’s was something happened to him in the past. Looks like he met with Hyemyeong when he was little or he witnessed something happened with Hyemyeong. based on his dream in the last week’s epi.

Personal taste but I find some of KES dramas cheesy, shallow, commercial and plotless. I dropped both The Heirs and Descendants of the Sun o_O. I think many other screenwriters deserve more popularity

Same, I just really couldn’t care less about The Heirs and Descendants of the Sun. Have you seen Goblin? I’m watching it right now and think it’s really good.

I haven’t! I want to give it a try to see why it is so popular :).

I think some of these dramas are popular because of the famous lead cast & also due to fan service e.g. strong woman do bong soon etc. The plot are sometimes overly cheesy and too much romance (the plot needs to be better in my pov)

But aren’t people allowed to like cheesy and commercial dramas? This is a serious question, not being sarcastic at all. I really want to know if there’s something wrong with liking these kinds of shows. I’m sure Kim Eun-sook works hard to write her scripts.

No not at all! I think people shouldn’t be judged for what they like! 🙂 I admittedly watched cheesy and commercial dramas a lot because the reality is too boring haha. But I just also think that these types of dramas may lack values such as creativity and insightfulness because they are created for mass audience to get addicted to in the first place. I think it is safe to assume that mass audiences like something digestible (easy plots to follow), unrealistically romantic (because life is so stressful!) and visually beautiful (oppa!). I just want to be conscious as an audience — understanding why I like something, and pay attention to other works that may not create as much buzz but deserve equal attention. This is such an interesting question to think about though!!

I thought you started your comment with mentioning the drama: “Personal taste” and got confused for a second.

Believe it or not, I got confused with myself too and thought of personal taste when I wrote this comment. But I was like, nobody would get confused besides me, that drama was ages ago! LOL.

This drama could have been so good, but…
This drama started out so good, and then in the end, it just decides to screw us over….
We deserve better.
Drama, do you even plot?

I don’t even know which drama you’re talking about but I have a WHOLE list that I can tack this comment on. Stop being mean, dramas…

Oh Jin-Seok\’s works such as Yong-Pal and My Sassy Girl are far from perfect but they are able to build very unique, interesting female characters. I love Yeo Jin and now the Princess. <3

2
2

Yes I agree. This PD will direct Park Hae Jin’s next drama as well. Hopefully there will be interesting character even it will be male centric drama.

I’ll credit the writer of Yong Pal and K2 despite of the messy plotlines, both female leads were so intrresting and smart. – Han Yeo Jin (Kim Tae Hee) & Choi Yoo Jin (Song Yoon Ah)

Lol @ how hard everyone’s trying to cry and the guy on the far left (I see him everywhere, but dunno his name) is just cracking himself and everyone up, but he ends up laughing himself to tears, too! Ahaha. Joo-won’s focus is incredible. Man, he goes from dorky boy to charismatic actor in seconds!

Maybe My Sassy Girl was ridiculous in the beginning as a marketing/pr strategy (look at its ranking on Naver). Now, the rating is picking up and the plot starts getting so much better too.

1
1

Or maybe because it was so bad in the beginning, people set a low expectation of how it will turn out. And when it turns out better and better, people become more satisfied and attached than how they should be.

    1

And also, which 80s born actors do you think deserve more fame for their acting abilities and work ethics?

0
0

Beanies, any examples of actors whose talents are wasted because they are managed by agencies that make bad production choices? Thoughts? How does choosing production actually work for an actor?

0
2

There would be a bunch of factors on how choosing the production would work. It would depend on how famous the actor is, their manager/managing company, their talent (or lack of), connections within the industry, timing, the director (and the control or lack of control he/she has in casting), etc. Most beginning actors don’t really have a choice and they take what they can get, hoping that it will be their break-out role where they have more offers they can choose from.
