KDrama Review of “Moonlight Drawn By Clouds”
4 out of 5 stars on DramaFever
How much I enjoyed it: 9/10
How I rate it: 8/10
I really enjoyed “Moonlight Drawn By Clouds”! This is without a doubt my favorite sageuk I’ve every watched (so far, haha!). The overarching theme found in the title (ie: the meaning of “Moonlight Drawn By Clouds”) is surprisingly profound, genuine, and incomparably beautiful.
The cast is fantastic! Park Bo Gum is to die for as the Prince (handsome, strong, considerate, loyal and full of heart). Whilst, Kim Yoo Jung is adorably fun, compassionate, and slightly quirky. Their chemistry is engaging and alluring throughout the drama. There are moments I felt so silly because I couldn’t stop smiling at the two of them!
I must point out though that Kwak Dong Yeon truly stole the screen for me in this drama. Playing the role of the prince’s conflicted bodyguard and best friend, his strength, maturity, steadfast spirit, and divided loyalties really struck my heart and interest. I found myself more and more engaged in his story, at times even more than the main couple’s! Kim Byung Yun has my whole heart in this one!
I really did enjoy the political intrigue of this drama, tempered with humor and truly sweet, romantic moments. The ending was unexpected in a number of ways. Overall, I absolutely would recommend this drama to any fan of romance, history, and action. I especially look forward to seeing the “core four” in many more dramas to come!
Finished: November 2016 (as released)
Loved this show as well. The political aspect of the drama was quite well done. That coupled with Park Bo Gum’s really good acting made it a solid show. Didn’t care too much for Ra On or the actress who played her. I think my bias was because she was so young and it showed. Yoon Sung was to me what Byung Yeon was to you in this show. That character gave me some SLS. Jin Young is quite good as him. That’s not to say that I did not enjoy Byung Yeon though.
