Hi @kaybee I don’t know if I can actually manage it because we are already doing quite a lot this Autumn but I’d like to go if possible. I think it would be great to see FT Island live. Is it on the Friday?
Yep it’s Friday 27th October 🙂 I’m definitely going no matter what, I’ve decided hehe, so now I’m just trying to rope someone in to take a weekend trip to Paris with me 😛
We arranged to go to Corsica with my brother in for a week in September and on a basket-making course in Ireland in November plus I have lots of large bills in the Autumn. So the timing isn’t great but I would definitely like to go (even though I’ll probably be the oldest person there). Maybe I can lure my daughter with promises of art galleries and shopping. I’ll let you know.
Lol don’t worry, if I can’t find a friend with the time/money to go, my mom will come along and we’ll have a mother-daughter trip, so at least there’s the possibility you wouldn’t be the oldest or at least not that much older 😛 Yes, do let me know! ^^
I’m having a bit of trouble with figuring out the ticket purchasing though. It’s all in French or it’s on a site called mymusictaste that I’m not too sure of. They want my phone number and everything, so I want to be sure they’re legit first.
I think I figured it out, possibly. Elysee Montmartre seems to sell the tickets themselves too, so I’ll try and create an account there and be quick to buy tickets from there when it starts tomorrow morning 🙂 I’m so worried they’ll be sold out before I can make it, I’m even going to do the unprecented and set my alarm to wake me up an hour before haha.
With difficulty I’ve finally managed to get onto the actual site but I can’t get into the my account section. There is a phone number listed for ticket sales which opens at 10 so I suppose I could try that.
Hi @kaybee I hope you managed to buy some tickets. I finally managed to get on the site for Elysee Montmartre but couldn’t get into the account I’d set up. So I rang the ticket office number from the Contacts section and have bought two tickets that way. The assistant spoke very good English which was helpful as I’m not brilliant in French on the phone. Hope you were successful too. 🙂
Yay! Glad you managed to get them! I was finally able to get on the site, but it all took me awhile after that, since my French is, well, lacking haha. I ended up having to call up my dad who speaks French haha. But I got them!!! 😀 Woohoo!
Ah yes, I had that problem as well. I kept trying to log in over and over again until it finally let me lol. I think their server went down due to heavy traffic. Probably lots of people trying to buy tickets at the same time.
From the UK but in France at the moment. I studied French for a long time but the emphasis was much less on the spoken language at that time so I’m much better with written French. I would have been ok actually but she offered! I struggle a bit with the automated phone systems but they aren’t easy in English!
That sounds like me and German. It’s so much easier to read it than to speak it!
And yes, automated phone systems are often awfully hard to navigate even in your own language! Glad she could ease it for you and get you the tickets ^^
I learnt German too but only for two years but I’m actually more confident about talking to people even though my vocabulary is obviously limited. We had a native German teacher for the first year and she made us practice speaking. More how languages are taught now. But I although I studied French for about seven years it was almost exclusively translations and set literature texts and in those days the lessons were also conducted in English. It is amazing how language stays in your brain though. I think the new vocabulary I am acquiring now is stored in a slightly different section from the French I learnt when I was younger. Language is just so fascinating especially the etymology. I studied French, German, Latin and some Anglo-Saxon when I was at Uni. My daughter studied Spanish, French and some Japanese. So we are always wondering about the roots of words and checking them out. We’ve decided to learn Hangul next in the hope that we get to visit Korea!

That would be fun! I’ll investigate the tickets tomorrow and see if I can work it out – I’ll check with my neighbour if I’m not sure.

Great minds think alike! I’ve managed to set up an account at Élysée Montmartre so I’ll try in the morning.

It looks like tickets will be on sale direct from the venue Élysée Montmartre from tomorrow morning so I’ll check on that too. 🙂

Also, you’re not French? I seem to recall you saying you lived in France? (although obviously you can live in France and not be born there lol)
