It has been years since I lastwatched an American TV show regularily. I thought why not start one. Cue to: One hour of uninspired browsing through Netflix and Amazon and I still haven’t found anything
Although I’m sure there are great shows, they’re much too long for me now. There’s no way I’m going to catch up on GoT no matter how good it is. I get tired just thinking about it. lol Each time I’ve signed up for the tree trial of Netflix, I have watched nothing but documentaries. My last show was Dexter and that was… ages ago.
I know plus your whole watching experience changes when you go into a show knowing it will end after 16 episodes vs. not knowing how long the plot will be stretched. I can’t get myself past the first episode of anything because I just don’t find the narratives addicting/ relateable anymore. My last one was The Office (-season 4 ) 😅
I’ve seen way too many jump the shark and turn shitty when they should have ended them instead. Castle, Bones, and so many more that I loved and watched religiously all managed to erase the magic for the last few seasons 🙁 Or they get cancelled on a cliffhanger, like Glades.
That’s why I end up not watching American tv shows on Netflix but usually British or some other country. They are either miniseries or if they are series, the episode count is really low.
May I recommend Broadchurch, very good crime show. Low episode count, only 3 seasons. The first two are on Netflix, the 3rd is currently airing on BBC America. You don’t need to watch the last two seasons to enjoy the first.
i have to say Sherlock is the only British show i watched ( and a couple episodes of Misfits). Thanks for the recommendation I will check it out! I saw some gifs for it on tumblr and it has an ex-harry potter actor which is always a plus 😄
Aside from time matters I realized that I need to relate emotionally with a character while american shows I’ve watched are all about the plot-development. I keep looking for slice-of-life shows a la misaeng, 20 again in vain..

Thanks a ton for recommending that show!! I’ve binging it ever since and I just finished it. I lufff it so much. David Tennant and his accent got themselves a new fangirl 💛
There are some pretty decent mystery series from the UK. Prime Suspect (with Helen Mirren) Luther (with Idris Elba), Vera, George Gently, Inspector Lewis.
Then there are other lighter shows like Cranford (with Judi Dench), Doc Martin, Last Tango in Halifax and Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (this is Australian). The Bletchly Circle was a very good mini series.

If you are a Whovian you will be pleased to know it has both the 10th Doctor and the new 13th.

I haven’t seen Broadchurch S2 or S3 but S1 was so good!!! The US tried to remake S1 but as usual, they fail to translate the awesomeness.
