I already finished my studies, I majored in agriculture (soil and water science).
ah well programming is cool cause you can pick it up at any point in life 😀 and you don’t necessarily need to have a related educational background to eventually get a job in the tech field…skills is the most important part!
sooo I’m actually not an engineer/sys admin but I do work with them to collaborate on documentation. I’m a writer and I studied Literature who happened to end up in the tech industry…but I took a survey from my coworkers real quick and they recommend:
c++ for object oriented programming. (Windows based)
Ruby for scripting (Unix based)
bash (bourne again shell) which is the basics for all programming languages…understanding this allows you to go into java, perl, ruby, etc
these are widely used languages that should have a lot of documentation available online 😀
