Also, poor Dong Chul, the legal system cheated him and drove him to the point of no return just because he has no connections, And Chief Bang from SP is one slimy asshole here
Sad part is it not only did that but also left a mark on his friendship with Sang-hwan. I know they’ll be fine but some scars just take so long to heal.
Poor Sang Mi, with both her parents in complete state of emotional breakdown with plenty of sexual predators and untrustworthy zealots around her, it sucks to be her
What I saw was slightly constipated, annoyed look instead of heart wrenching conflict in Taecyeon’s portrayal, he is the weakest link in Rescue Me so far
Taecyeon, I wish I could say he had gotten better but no, he still can’t do nuanced emotional heavy lifting that his character Sang Hwang requires for the audience to root for him
@mango@frabbycrabsis it was very, very bad…..I don’t know….I know kids bully but I personally am thankful that despite going to an all girls school, things were never this bad in my school growing up and we had a strict anti-bullying rule that was enforced pretty strongly
Bullying goes on everywhere, but the severity in each country is different. It seems to be worse in Korea? I have watched a lot of high school movies that feature bullying as a way of life among the kids there. It’s so weird? I mean, is it because they are too stressed out from studying? That’s why they pick on other kids? Or is their inferiority complex about whatever at play here?
I would say Save me showed it in the most realistic way. In other dramas it isn’t shown as serious as it really is. In other dramas, problems get solved after the victim says few cool words or someone once protects him.
Here is a link, if you are interested about bulling in Korea. http://netizenbuzz.blogspot.com/2016/02/how-school-bullying-shuttles-have.html
Okay OCN’s Save Me gave me chills and is so creepy……..Seo Ye Ji and Cho Seong Ha, how did they film that creepy portion…..it made me freeze in disgust and fear
But watching these old Korean series is making me wonder what is going wrong with the newer stories, most lack the charm the older ones still have especially the romance dramas
If you go back to recaps from 5 or mire years ago you will see the reverse. People kept complaining about too much romance plots and lack of more serious plots. It seems that the drama gods have heard and now we are at the opposite extreme.
Which old Korean series are you watching? I remember the times when I was watching old Korean dramas which had one lead dying of cancer or some fatal disease, and I was so bored of it. I like the Koreans’ offering now. At least, they have different genres to attract different types of people. And I happen to be receptive to all genres.
I totally get where you’re coming from… I don’t see the quality that was in the hong sisters dramas(master’s sun, you’re beautiful), or FBND or like goong or my name is kim san soon, I mean the classic kdrama romcoms that I Love, any more in the recent romcoms. I loved goblin, and it was more to do with the Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun and how they sold part of their story more than anything, so that was the last romance show that I enjoyed this year. Apart from that all the recent romcoms like suspicious partner ,fight my way and rest of them haven’t been able to keep my interest for long. I’m watching reunited worlds and so far, this is lacking in content too IMO. Maybe the blame goes to the writers who are being too quick with coming up with a plot but don’t take much time in developing the plot and writing a drama with more heart, like the old ones used to did? :S I do blame the recent hallyu wave and desperation of the tv channels to make more use of it by filling the weekdays with dramas and the less focus on selecting shows with better qualities.
I judge the quality of the show by the rewatch factor, like I watch FBND or master’s sun or I hear your voice every two or three years lol [ I have other dramas too in this list but these are the names I can recall for now], these are like my go to dramas when the current shows don’t interest me, so I can’t remember any dramas in recent years that I will go for a rewatch. Yes, some of the shows like signal or secret forest have been freaking awesome, but I am talking about romcoms which work more in case of rewatching. Don’t know somehow I feel the latest glossy technology and super HD screen quality kind of makes us forget that the drama watching experience used to be better some years back, when the sets weren’t that much glossy [like now], and when the whole 60 minute air time would be packed with much more content. And because we don’t complain, we’re in for anything that has been fed to us. Haha sorry for the long rant, I have been feeling this way for a while I guess, so seeing your post reminds me that I share your feeling too. 😀
Yes I liked that most of the key players weren’t dumb too. And most of them whatever crime they committed it wasn’t for their own selfish gain but for someone they loved. I was glad for that too.
We need more match-making, well dressed ghost ladies helping the candy in every drama like Bride of the Century, I love our little whiter than snow white Ghost
Yi Hyun Oppa, are you falling for Doo Rim but she looks like you half sister even though she just looks like her…what sort of confusing fauxcest is this and I like Yi Hyun #BrideoftheCentury
I thought it made sense because it’s obvious that he’s falling for her character and not her looks. If he was immediately smitten with her, then it would be creepy. There’s also another reason it’s not really that bad but to say it would be a spoiler…

Why is the entire church in Save Me lined with plastic sheets…..reminds me of Dexter which makes me wonder if the purpose here is the same

Is the church under construction? But that makes it even creepier. I keep thinking someone or a ghost is going to pop out of nowhere.

I always wonder the same about bullying in dramas. Is it that bad in reality ? Do people not speak out or defend the bullied ?

There was never a bullying case in my co-ed school. I’ve seen that go that far in asian dramas. Is it perhaps more severe in asian countries ?
