I’m finally not a candy anymore! However, getting upgraded to Jang Geu-rae makes me feels guilty for still not having seen Misaeng yet… I don’t think I can handle the realness tho.
I’m 99% sure the school they’re using for Circle is the same one that was used for Solomon’s Perjury. Interesting to see how the same location can look different through different style of filming.
I definitely did a double take when it first appeared on screen. And then my brain was like “all those drama deaths at one school can’t be good for morale.”
No way! I always came across positive comments on the show. Hmm… did you read/skim through the recaps and comments for Tunnel? Well, I’ll try to let you know my thoughts when I watch more of it. I’ve only watched ep 1. 😅
The comments I saw were mostly from twitter and tumblr. I haven’t checked out the recaps because of spoilers. I was surprised myself because I also saw a lot of positive buzz at it’s start. I hope you’ll like it at least!
Ah, well, I’ve seen a lot of positive comments here on DB, so that’s surprising. I’ll have to find out for myself! ✊🏼 I hope I continue to like it, too. So many shows now, though. Sigh…
I really enjoyed it! I thought about dropping it early on because the first few eps were a little slow tbh, but I’m really glad I stuck with it. It’s a fun crime comedy that manages to hit some strong emotional beats as well. Seo In Guk and Ma Dong Seok are phenomenal together.
This reminded me of the hilarious interview Dave did with Ma Dong-seok to promote Police Unit 38, so I actually just posted it on my wall. Have you seen it? If not, you should check it out! It’s quite funny.
I feel like dramas at the moment are going for concept instead of actual writing. Just give me characters I can give a damn about. If you can’t get me invested in them, the rest doesn’t matter
It feels petty to complain about, but instead of a 👎, I’d rather you’d just comment on why you disagree with me. A 👎 doesn’t contribute to the conversation in any interesting way & feels juvenile.
It’s interesting to see how they sometimes use color as part of the story in dramas. It doesn’t always apply, of course, and it doesn’t always work either. But it’s certainly something to note when it does.
Watch Tunnel! It’s really good, especially this week’s episodes, they were packed with heart-pounding suspense! It’s dark yet with fish out of water humor!
I second this! I didn’t finish voice, but I’m really enjoying Tunnel. I didn’t like the characters in Voice, much prefer the characters and the relationships in Tunnel. Also, Choi Jin-Hyuk ❤️
I agree! The characters in Tunnel have more warmth and humour then those in Voice. I watched Voice too and thought it was good. The best thing about it was the villain!!
That being said, i agree that Tunnel is better.
Exactly! I watched Voice too and the villain was so clever and cruel, he gave me chills. I liked the whole cast but there were parts where I felt the story just fell through!
Yesss. His cruelty was horrifying but I loved how smart he was and how he toyed with the two lead characters. I thought Lee Hana did a better job than Jang Hyuk…but overall I agree that the story fell through. I’m still confused about that ending. Was that his imagination? Lol. Or are we supposed to get ready for Voice II?
I nearly had an existential crisis trying to decide which of my fave characters/shows should be my icon & cover image… it felt like choosing between children… WHO DO I LOVE MORE?!?!?
I\’m regretting using different emails for my comments now… I used my current address to register, only to find that I had only ever made one comment under it before >_< Oh well…

Halfway through 2017 and I’ve only completed two dramas. That’s alarmingly lower than last year.

Episode #1 of Circle feels like the tvN I’ve been missing. I hope this indicates good things for the show and network going forward.

It’d be nice if we could have more crime dramas that weren’t about women getting murdered every week. Police Unit 38 did it splendidly.

With the current trend of using dark/desaturated filters (looking @ you tvN…) for kdramas, the use of colors in Mystery Queen is a welcomed treat.
