Can some of you beanies tell me about good subscription services to watch kdramas? What’s better: dramafever, viki, viu(? heard of that one only recently) or maybe even netflix (I know that they had Secret Forest but do they even have many other dramas?) Is there any subscription service where you can download videos to watch offline? Or do you know of any other way to get kdramas/movies for offline viewing? In iTunes I found Train to Busan which was a happy surprise but other than that not anything…. In google play they don’t seem to have any Korean movies or shows either. 🙁 Thank you in advance 😊👋

This is in regards to living in the US. Viu isn’t available here. So, you have Netflix, Viki, Dramafever, and the newly introduced Kocowa. I am subscribed to all 4. However, Kocowa is sh*t and I am using my free month subscription to watch Reunited Worlds for now. Until they get their act together I don’t feel they are worth the money. I could wax on about the problems encountered, but I shall move on. I

wouldn’t classify Netflix as a kdrama sight per se, they offer a very small selection in the big picture of Kdramas. I subscribe to them to watch their full catalog of movies and tv shows, they just coincidentally have kdramas and kmovies. They do allow for download and watch offline, for instance Reply 1997.

Now the two remaining providers are excellent and have a huge catalog of kentertainment available, plus shows currently airing, which Netflix does not. DF like Netflix, has a selection of titles you can download and watch later. There are some small drawbacks, DF doesn’t sub shows immediately (Forest of Secrets is released M/T) and Viki can have the subs out immediately, but only 50% is completed. But, all in all the two are very satisfactory and offer Roku/AppleTV apps etc. Viki is very cheap compared to DF which is almost as expensive as my Netflix and Kocowa I think charges $6-$7 bucks.

I equally use Viki and DF as they offer different shows (exclusive rights given to one over the oher) so in order to watch all the currently airing dramas I switch back and forth.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you for the thorough answer. 🙂 So dramafever would probably be the one for my specific needs right now. Do you maybe know what shows you can download on dramafever?

You can set a filter and it will display all shows that you can download. There are way too many to list out. But for example Flower Boy Next Door, Two Weeks and The Princess’s Man are downloadable (at least they were ~6 months ago.

Oh, I just saw that offline viewing with dramafever is not available in my region. Great. Oh well, I guess there just aren’t any possibilities for offline viewing yet. Then I guess I will just revert back to books when I don’t have internet. Viki it is then, I think. It’s cheaper. ^^’ Thank you, it was really nice of you to help me out. 🙂
