Showtime: Cute. Not exactly my style, but cute. A little too much fireworks though, did the people even see the dance break? I could only see three people. O_O The set reminds of the 80s, so that was weird.
IKYK: I’m a little disappointed they only got 83. I was expecting like 100s. Seems quite a marketable song. The falsettos were really hard, but for me, the vocals still did well. Hyunbin still looked a bit awkward in dance but significantly good job nevertheless. Daddy JR & JiSung must be proud. I wish he had this kind of confidence / performance in Downpour.
Did they use the same set for “In the same place”? It looks so familiar.
Open Up: Vocals great, of course. but I’m not a fan of EDM concept. The tribal part didn’t seem like it was part of the song. But O.M.G. they had the sexiest look.
Now where do I buy whatever it was they were drinking during recording? #PPLCHECK
OLG: Another very marketable song. Giving off happy happy feelings kind of vibe. But why does Jihoon look like Ronald McDonald? What is that color-combo? Who is his stylist? :/
Never: Did not expect to like Deep House concept. True, a lot of my favorites were here, but the song is great! And yay for Minhyun! ^_^
But I didn’t expect EDM to be the winning concept. I guess market preferences do change? Is EDM the trend? Am I super old so I don’t get it? Am I actually an imo instead of a noona? T_T
Anyway, I liked the whole episode. I can’t believe it’s ending soon. Good job to all the kiddos. ^_^
I completely agree with everything you said about Showtime. It was a song for a younger group I think. Woojin did great, Samuel was reliable as the centre, and Woodam and Sungwoon came through with the vocals. I felt bad for Sangkyun because he was stuck with another cutesy song like SHINee’s Noona. Taehyun didn’t really get a lot of screen time this time around and Jisung brought the funny. There was too much fancy camera work during the dance break to fully appreciate the dance.
I was disappointed with the IKYK performance even though it was such a fun and cute performance. They all looked like they were having the time of their lives on stage. Sunghyuk did a great job as the main vocal. He reminds me of BTOB’s Changsub with the slight lisp and vocal tone. Yehyun looked great, but he was out of breath quite a bit and didn’t give a very stable performance. Donghyun did a good job with vocals. Donghan and Taedong didn’t have the same stage presence as they did with their Shape of You performance, which was a little disappointing. Moonbok looked so pretty, although Hyunbin did a better job rapping. He definitely had a lot more confidence for this round of performances.
The producers for Open Up have been behind Vixx’s latest releases, Fantasy, Closer and Shangri-La. I don’t know if it’s because I really liked those songs that I was expecting a bop with Open Up, but I really liked the song. I’m surprised Open Up won over Never, especially because they performed so early compared to Never. Kang Daniel and Takada Kenta switched their positions for this performance it seemed, with Daniel singing and Kenta rapping, but they both did a good job and showed how versatile they are (although I do wish it were the other way around because Daniel sounded a bit strained). Yongguk didn’t get enough screen time for a centre, but he looked great. I hope the recent ‘controversies’ of allegedly having a girlfriend and his brother saying which concept song he wanted to be matched to won’t affect Youngmin’s ranking, because he’s definitely talented. Seonho wasn’t too memorable in this performance, and the camera followed Haknyeon quite a bit. Dongho’s high note was piercing, something I didn’t think was possible after his surgery. He did a great job leading the other trainees, even if he wasn’t the official leader. (bonus was the peek of the tattoo on his chest). Open Up was definitely the sexy concept.
Oh Little Girl was another song which was more suitable for the younger trainees. Minki did great as the centre (that ending pose with the strong backlighting, the blond hair and the blue eyes really made Minki look like he just popped out of a manhwa). Sewon is not as strong as Jaehwan, but i felt he was a pretty good fit with this song. He’ll do great as an idol singer. Also, what was that in Euiwoong’s hair? Gunhee and Hyeongsub fit really well with the concept as well. Although Jinyoung’s voice was a little jarring in how different it was from the rest of the sweeter vocals, I still really like his vocal colour. Jihoon didn’t have too many memorable moments in the performance, other than the Ronald McDonald outfit, but then again, his position is dancer.
Never was the song I liked the most in the medley. Minhyun as usual brought his game as the centre. I loved Seungwoo’s ‘Every time, Everywhere’ (also, did you notice his suspenders snapped off?) Daehwi and Guanlin were pretty good. Guanlin continually surprises me with his rapping (I believe Daehwi and Guanlin are the same age, which is very interesting to me). and Jonghyun’s typical rap voice 🙂 . Woojin was a trooper and gave a great performance. I initially though Jaehwan had too much of a an indie/folk voice to be a pop singer, but this performance proved me wrong. That o-o-o-ooh 3/4s of the way through the performance when everyone else is on their knees was the highlight of all the performances for me. I had thought that Never would win out, not only because it was a great song with a great performance, but also because they went last, and most of the audience would’ve had that performance in mind went they voted.
I’m glad that the ‘tension’ in the Oh Little Girl group was just a birthday prank, and poor Sewon who didn’t even initially realize he also had a birthday to be celebrated.
Moonbok was so pretty! I feel a little bad that he’s going to cut his smooth silky hair now. (Can I have his hair as a wig?)
Open Up does kind of grow on me when I listen to the playlist on Spotify though I still prefer Never. Im happy Youngmin & Daniel got the benefit despite the controversies they went through. I don’t know what will happen to Haknyeon though. He is in another controversy again. I didn’t even notice the mistakes until the allkpop article pointed it out.
I actually don’t mind when the kids want center position because, as JiSung said: “This is Competition!” (that boy is so funny) :p
I saw a post somewhere in IG that said “does Euiwoong have dandruff?” I thought it was confetti? LOLOLOLOL.
I saw that Seungwoo’s suspenders snapped! Wardrobe malfunction. Rumor mill says he’s out of Top 11. HUHUHUHU. NOOOOO.
I feel like of bad about Haknyeon. I’m sure if the knetz found time to do that for every single trainee, there would be many who would be a lot like Haknyeon. I personally don’t like him, and I feel like he could do with an attitude change, but he’s young yet and I hope he gets better.
Jisung copying Jessi was quite funny. I hope Moonbok decides to keep his hair. If not, your idea of donating it as a wig is awesome.
I’m not sure if it’s glitter, confetti or something clipped into his hair, but whatever it was was not a good look for him.
Seungwoo has constantly been dropping. I love he’s got variety should, he dances well, and he can sing well. I’m not sure if mind is just making this up, but I think he has been out was training for musicals. I think he would be a great asset to the final team. Although honestly, there are so many boys who I want in the final team.
I know! There was a sort of survey/poll at soompi on who’s your top11 and I just couldn’t pick a final 11! I ended up not answering it. I’m going to be a emotional mess on the Finale. Half happy – half sad.
Sorry, just re-read that last paragraph. I do not make any sense at all 😛
I meant to say he’s got variety skills, he dances well and can sing well. I think he has been or was a trainee for musicals.
Park Woojin’s eye bothered me so much now that I know he had shingles. OMG that probably hurt so bad. I know. I had shingles on my neck, which was relatively mild but I wanted to cut off my skin.
OMG The rankings are getting crazier and crazier. T_T
I saw some photos of that on IG I didnt know it was to “test popularity”! 😳 …well, i thought it was an event or something promotional, like they’d form a crowd, bring them together after and dance together since they were wearing the same thing. (Isnt PD101 already a popularity contest in itself?)
Is Mnet going to play sad, depressing music when someone does not recognize the kid?
Reading through some of the comments on that post, it’s likely that the group won the athletic competition shown in the preview for the next episode.
Supposedly Sangkyun was somewhere where there were only much older people, it’s obvious no one would’ve recognised him. Some commenters mentioned that it probably won’t even be broadcast.
