I have to admit the later half did interest and engage me much more than the fist half…. Maybe it was the dystopia that really got me but I honestly watched this without really thinking too much into it. I didn’t read much of the promo and I really only knew that this had aliens in it so when it did the time jump it honestly threw me for a loop because I didn’t know we were going to be engaging with two different time lines. But I am honestly really excited~! I love the way they have brought the characters in and we really got to see into the twins minds.
But I am slightly confused… the subs said “Find your siblings” or something along the lines of that but… I didn’t know that they had someone other than just the two of them?? There was a secret third sibling!?!? I feel like if I had actually dug around to find out what the premise for this show was actually about, most of this premier wouldn’t have shaken me up like a washing machine. I honestly am really excited to see where this will go and what will happen with the twins and also with our special Smart City helper…
I kinda want him to fall into the Normal City side rather than staying with the Smart City. TEAR OUT THAT CHIP AND BREAK FREEEEEEEE~!! But I also feel like it would be equally as satisfying to see him turn to the dark side. But of course that will be very careful planning of his character development to both of these endings (or beginnings).
But I see TVN and I watch so I am sure they will do whatever they plan to do amazingly.
I was kind of confused about the siblings as well. But Detective Hong did say 형제, which is usually plural (I think). So, either Kim Joonhyuk is Kim Woojin, or their dad had another child after he left the twins with their grandmother.
I was equally intrigued by both timelines – I loved seeing the character interaction between Kim Woojin and Kim Bumgyoon.
I thought it was really interesting that when they first encountered the alien as children, it was Bumgyoon who was sceptical and gave very scientific excuses, and Woojin who whole-heartedly believed that he had seen the aliens, but as adults, it was the opposite. Woojin saw everything in a very logical and scientific manner, and Bumgyoon who had reverted to a child-like state of believing in everything. Both actors did a great job portraying their respective characters.
I want Lee Hosoo to fall on the Normal Earth side as well, but like you said, it would be really satisfying to see him turn dark. He has shown glimpses of emotion, so it’s not like he’s completely emotionless, but at the same time, living in that environment, where everything the government says is right is can so easily turn him to the dark side if he doesn’t want to see his perfect world falling apart around him.
What’s also interesting is that Circle has quite a few writers. The original idea was thought up by the writers of Six Flying Dragons and Tree with Deep Roots, but the scriptwriters are slightly lesser known writers (mostly from drama specials). I’m excited to see how these writers blend in their worlds to create a great package.
Omg yes (About the clothing resemblance)!!! I thought that as well! But it doesn’t seem like he has any goodness in him at all this time round. Seems like he is playing an evil through and through which I am honestly really excited to see more of his character~!
But yes the interactions between the brothers was beyond adorable and I couldn’t get enough of their childlike scawbling tackling one another and teasing one another. I honestly though I had made a mistake with which character had which child counterpart at the start before I did manage to reason with myself over which one was wearing glasses and which wasn’t.
And yes I feel the same over Lee Hosoo. I have to admit one of the scenes that stood out to me was when he said “I have never lied.” He honestly meant I believe and the character is so deep rooted within the Smart City system it would be hard for him to change around. Also that moment with where the green light turned red… I wonder what happens if their light stays red for a long time? there must be something…. Maybe they get shocked into fainting or maybe it cuts something in their brain or I dunno… I am just running theories here but I am not sure if I like any of them.

Also, who is Bluebeard? He’s been mentioned in both timelines and characters in both timelines are looking for this elusive character.

Maybe that’s where the main intrigue will come from – who gets to him first and what it is that he knows

Also, doesn’t Min Sungwook’s character’s clothes remind you of his character’s clothes in Missing 9 during Bonghee’s white dream sequences?
