Yep, Netflix has ruined both Light Yagami and L’s character and possibly Death Note…I get adaptations need creative liberty but throwing the best things away and forcing a romance ain’t the way
Ah….I see what you mean. Light looks like he didn’t sleep well, wears average casual and kind of meh clothing, has unkept hair that are bleached blond but don’t have the roots touched up and look maybe slightly unwashed. In the short trailer I watched he was already running away from the police and hanging from a fricking ferris wheel collapsing…. Plus they showed him kissing someone.
I’m actually surprised how much stuff they managed to pack into this trailer that goes against the original characterization of Light and the overall story line.
I might still check it out if the reviews are not too bad but it is a bit disappointing. :/ That he was able to maintain his proper boy/perfect student image was one of the major points of this story after all… Oh well, we will see I guess.
The psychological war between L and Light were highlight of the entire anime, too stray from that instead of being clever about that is not a good idea. Both had questionable moral attitude towards right and wrong and both more or less believed End justifies the means. Both were driven by their obsessions. To take all of that away, I don’t know what they’re trying here. Also, they called Shinigami simply “Death-God”…….that is so not what he is and sounds incredibly lame too. Like I said, majorly disappointed. It feels like Netflix wants to cash in on the hype without any whatsoever respect for the source material which is quite rich in itself.
We don’t really know about L though, in the trailer we barely saw him walking a bit. He could still be the weird and always hunched over genius with an addiction to sweets. Although his style of walking was a bit cooler than what I would have imagined for L. ^^’
Well if Netflix has ruined boths caracters, there is no “possibly”, Death Note is definitely ruined. Lol
I didn’t know about this adaptation but it’s quite disappointed. Death Note is such a gem. Besides, forcing a romance is a big NOOO to me. The hardcore mangas fan in me is revolted. I deeply respect Death Note for the great manga that it is, if it turns out bad, I will not forgive Netflix for this.
On a side note:
– You follow Ruler
– You love SP and FOS
– You apparently like Goblin and Master’sun
Well gem28, I luvv you already. Hihi
