i watched the full episode. even though i don't understand what's being said, my eyes kept on crying. Both Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won are such good actors that i can feel them. No words needed for me. But still, i will wait for the recap of javabeans. hope it will come out soon =)
I have more work that I can handle, I will be working tomorrow as well, but in this economy there is no room for complain,
I lost all interest in SG, "Dream High am My Princess" are doing well, hopefully they can stay with a good story line and do not "Go Down" like many other dramas in 2010!!
My Princess has been surprisingly good, I find myself already addicted to it and anticipating the next episode. There's something really endearing about the budding friendship between the leads - the premise made me think that it was going to be yet another cold and aloof chaebol and the usual bickering, turbulent relationship, so I'm glad to be mistaken. The princess-training with these two should be fun!
Less excited about Dream High but we'll see.
Time has gone crazy-fast and from Monday on it's gonna be work and no sleep again for me T.T Sick of responsibilities, I just want some reading and drama-time! Wish I didn't need to sleep. Now that would be awesome!
I totally agree with you about My Princess. I watched the first episode yesterday and Kim Taehee was so charming. And her little SNSD moment was so cute.
Couldn't agree more. I was pleasantly surprised, as I didn't think the show would be good. I just thought I would kill time - waiting for Secret Garden :) Speaking of which, I didn't watch the preview for ep 17(never do bc I don't like to know what is coming and then have to wait a whoooooole week to find out the full story). I just hope it is not something bad, as someone wrote above...
It reminds me a bit of Prosecutor Princess the friendship between the leads, the girl in love with the second lead. I hope she won't drag the in love with second lead until too late like in PP
It's airing where I live and I saw some of the earlier episodes but I haven't been following because of time issues but from what I saw I would say it's worth following. But I get the feeling you have to watch from the beginning to want to stick with it. It's on my to watch list if I ever get the time.
It is ok if you like politics. GHY was overrated. Yes, some scenes were great, overall it was a little boring and repetitive. Some parts of the plot like how she rescued the hostages as a special envoy did not make sense. For a really good political drama, go for Giant. Great plot and great acting especially the villian.
This is completely irrelevant to drama- but then again this is an open thread, -- but I was wondering if you wonderful dramabeaners could assist me with a trivial situation.
Netbook.
- Okay so a year ago I bought a brand new desktop, that has been supplying me with wonderful service, but then a few months later bought a laptop that was on sale for like $275 with 250 GB, 3GB Ram, and 16.1 screen. - Now the thing is, I initially wanted to buy a netbook when I bought this laptop- because I needed something small to carry to college during lectures and I already bought a desktop so I can do all the big works over there.
But my dad advised that I would be getting a full laptop, which I could also carry to school, at the price of a netbook. So this and that and I bought the laptop.
Now my problem is, I have tried to take this laptop to college and its no easy business taking it in and out of my backpack and carrying the hefty thing around. Now I don't take notes on my laptop, but I need the gadget to view like lecture notes or sometimes work on papers that are due. And finding a spot in the campus library or computer lab is not always fun.
So finally I have come down to the problem that maybe I should get a netbook. I mean they are small, easy to carry, and I don't plan to download dramas on the netbook- since most drama download is on my desktop (okay, only one.)
But then I feel like I would be wasting a lot. I already have a cool desktop for hefty business and then I have this laptop that was purposed to be for small business- and though it looks and works amazing, its weight and large size has become a burden - so now this laptop is like my bed rest gadget: when I am too lazy to sit on my hard desktop chair, I sit on my bed and use the laptop.
Now on top of a desktop and laptop if I get a netbook, is it even worth it?
So yeah, sorry for the ramble and trample friends. -_- But the final question is--
Is a netbook worth it? Money wise? Time wise? Size Wise? And drama wise?
And let's not forget trying to convince my parents why I should waste $250-300 on another electronics. -_-'
Anyhow, I think it depends on the brand and model you want to buy. Mine is an Acer Aspire one. It's discounted and came with an external DVD player/rewriter when I bought it. It's still pretty expensive here, though, compared to the prices I just saw on Amazon.
I think it's pretty much worth it, though. Has 160GB HD space, comes with basic programs, and Windows XP OS (just from my experience here). It seems pretty durable (though mine is yet to experience falling on the floor or something) and is very, very light. Never had any major problem with this, but of course, you must still think of your eyesight (since it has a small screen and all).
Thank you! I checked a few out at my local electronics store and most of them are like 160GB and that's fine. I don't really need a lot of space. I just something I can use to like carry around and type on occasionally.
Once again, thank you very much for sharing your insight on this phenomenally insane dilemma of mine. :p.
Seems like you really need a portable gadget of some sort and not a heavy-use-and-heavyweight-laptop. So I agree that you need a netbook.
But I can't advise you in terms of money. =/ So I can't say if you should shell out an extra $250. How much longer are you going to use the netbook? (ie are perhaps in your last year of college?) If you're still going to use it for a longer time, then maybe the cost is still justified. $300 over 12 months of portable and easy computing is just $25 a month. :)
If you're not really making good use of your laptop, perhaps you can sell it to buy the netbook. Then you can do the heavy computing stuff using your desktop instead.
You see that's the problem. I don't want to sell my laptop or get rid of it. I love it to bits. And it works smooth and fine-- but its the size!
My younger sister is telling me do stop being a paranoid freak and deal with it -_-. She says I should just buy an extra laptop bag and then carry that separately. -Sigh- but she's not going to college, so she doesn't know what its like to be carrying 2 big bags. And be the only one taking out a humongous laptop (fine, I wasn't the only one)
Oh and this is my second year in college. So I have quite a ride left.
But thank you Mary! Thank you for citing your thoughts and helping me get closer to a decision. I know this is a insane proposition to be nagging my head over- but hey $250 isn't really small. And I really don't like stacking on things I won't end up using.
Is a netbook worth it? Money wise? Time wise? Size Wise? And drama wise?
money-wise: it depends on how much you really need it. needs vs. wants.
time-wise: please expound on this.
size-wise:
portability, yes.
document viewing and editing... for short ones - yes, for lengthy ones - no (or it depends on how knowledgeable you are on application shortcuts)
viewing videos/photos, yes.
editing videos/photos - basic, yes. advanced, no.
weight-wise, yes.
drama-wise, it depends on the specs of the netbook. (my netbook does fine. with DivX, great. ;) )
is a netbook really worth spending my time pondering over
Yes, it is, because it's a mind itch. A frustration (for now that you don't have one). Better that you rationalize now than to be sorry later, for there are things that we realize we don't really need when we already have them.
What I'd suggest for you to do is to list down the reasons why you want a netbook - why you need it, what you can do with it, what you can't do without it. And of course, list the reasons why you shouldn't or can't buy it. It helps you rationalize when you see those things on paper. Cross out the wants, encircle the needs. And then compare the remaining advantages with the disadvantages/reasons why you don't really need it.
By the way, what's the size of your laptop, and what sort of bag do you use to carry it around? Do you stuff it in the bag with lots of books and notebooks or other tech gadgets? Your issue might also lie on how you carry the laptop around (like shoulder bag vs. backpack), or what else you carry with it. Oftentimes, it's the laptop's accessories that make the load heavier, like the mouse, charger, etc.
I have pretty much exact situation - minus the desktop. I have a big home laptop and then my BabyTop as a friend named it. HOWEVER what I have is not a Netbook, but still considered a "laptop". It's about an inch more screen and size, which I swear makes me feel like I'm not going to break it. My dad just ordered it straight off the Dell website to get the best specs (and cheaper not going through an electronic store!).
The mini-laptops are great to do low level things on the go. Keep in mind it doesn't have a CD/DVD drive! That must be purchased and hooked up seperately. I use the big laptop and smaller laptop to seperate what is school/work things from entertainment things.
MAJOR Recommendation - If purchasing a Netbook/Mini-Laptop get the bigger battery! Two hours go by really quick depending on what you're doing with it. Especially surfing the Internet. I've been using mine so much I really wish I got one as it doesn't even last through a three hour class unless fully charged and I put it to sleep when not taking notes.
So the laptop is great if you need to go somewhere for quite awhile compared to a Mini-laptop/Netbook after a few hours you WILL need to charge. Yeah, it can be a pain to find a spot in those places, but a greater pain in the ass? Trying to find an outlet not being used for a few hours to charge your Netbook/Mini-Laptop.
I'd say it's nice for viewing lecture notes and writing papers (if there's a free outlet nearby), but you'd be keeping it to things you'd only want to get done in a couple hours. A laptop really is great when you've a 15 page paper that will have a browser open in the background, notes pulled up, and the document itself you'll be chugging on for five hours.
i have an acer aspire one too and the battery can last up to more than 5 hours if only for use of typing and other programs, or doing simple tasks. however, if you use it for watching video and downloading, battery will only last for less than 3 hours.
I thought the same thing for a while, but I didn't want to spend the money for a netbook when I already had a fine working laptop. My parents ended up getting me one for my birthday because it has the aircard in it and I was doing a lot of commuting. For that reason alone the netbook is great for me... but that's also an added monthly expense. But if you need it, it's worth it.
As for the size... its sooo much easier on my back carrying the netbook around as opposed to the laptop. I can't say whether it would be worth it for you for that reason, but it definitely made note taking for my classes much easier. Also the longer battery life is a huge plus. If you are going to still be in college for a couple of years, I would say it's a wise investment.
I also agree with izzie, that drama-wize, it is great. :)
Depending on the model and the brand....basically no - it's not worth it unless you have a specific thing you want to do - like take it into a lab or library and type. Netbooks are light, and portable, and mine is a very handy little beast - but they are slower and more delicate than laptops. Also - thumbdrive or network output - no disks.
As for dramas, last spring I was toting my netbook around on weekends subbing a drama. It is possible, but it's not pretty. I used a USB mouse because the pad is evil and rickety.
Now, why do I have one? Well, fact of the matter is that I bought a cheap netbook to hack it. It's doing things the manufacturer didn't quite expect. 8-) But if you are going to hack things, and potentially brick them, you kinda go with the entry level - in this case the netbook was what I needed (and then I voided the warranty and mucked about inside it)
I test drove a Dell the other day and hated it. Hated. Mine is an MSI Wind. It's pink. 8-)
If you want to test drive one, wander into a BestBuy or some such and try their mousepads and keyboards. You may find one you like. You may hate it.
I do a lot of computing programming, as I'm a data analyst, and the netbook has held up quite well. I'm actually able to carry it in my purse when I want to jazz up for the day or run to grab a coffee at a local starbucks and do some extra work.
When i got it, it was about 250 dollars, and it has almost been a year. I think it'll be a great investment if you put it to use.
Having a desktop and a netbook is quite handy to be honest. Laptops are just too heavy for my small stature to carry around; it gets super tiring especially since my walk to work is about half and hour. That really bites at the shoulders if you carry a backpack, or your arms if it's a purse/tote.
I couldn't breathe during the elevator scene, either. A lot of people are complaining about not wanting anything sad in the last 4 eps but I'm thinking I'd feel really cheated if I watched an HB drama where he didn't all-out cry (whether as JW or as RI). That said, I'm starting the mascara removal operations now.
on a non-SG note: I notice in the 2009 annual recaps there were tons of great posts from samsooki - is he still here?
MISSING
Have you seen Brookeve? She was last seen yesterday, sneaking into her craft room, clutching a photo of TOP in one hand, and the new Big Bang cd on the other. No one has found any trace of her since.
Afraid that she might be having a seizure, when strange "squeeee" like noises issued from the closed room, her concerned spouse and step son attempted to break down the door, to no avail. Her family is gravely concerned for her health. She has been known to get severely dehydrated from drooling and running high fevers, when exposed too long to the presence of TOP. She might be in desperate need of assistance. Please contact us if you have any information as to her whereabouts.
To Brookeeve if you are reading this, sometimes between your hundredth time watching the "Knock Out" MV of Big Bang: Unnie, your family loves you and is worried about you. Please come back, I miss you. :(
Love: your little sister :P
It's only 2,790 miles between you and me, little sister. It isn't that far, and I have a car. I might have to stop and pick up Diadda.... but I can get there in two, maybe three days.
You know, my real life sister and I used to wrestle, pull each others hair, and sometimes I would write DORK on her forehead in her sleep... and she would write NERD on mine in vengeance, which would of course mean that I had to...
Come to think of it, you might not be that safe from me!
Omo! How awesome would it be to take a road trio with you guys!!!
Splgt001 didi, were here or in Scotland when we came up with the matching tracksuit uniforms, (every sparkly sequin handstiched by me and Leonardswench) for all of us? Our logo is a pigrabbit riding a psychic pigeon! Can we imagine if we actually walked around wearing them?! :P
me and soju? How much are we talking here? My exploits whilst drinking have been recently revealed. So I may need help finishing it if it is more than one bottle.
@diadda: as much as you can drink *secret plans on taping diadda drunkenly making phone calls to brookeve* LOL
@viola - in our "oh so wonderful" tracksuits we flash mob NY transit and speak Korean, actually speak dialogues from our fave dramas and see we what damage we can do... ha ha, my imagination is running wild with ideas.
I also spied secretly on two handsome men speaking in Korean at the mall at lunch time today. They didn't suspect anything since I had headphones on (I oh so conveniently turned off the music)... ha ha
Omo! I completely forgot about The Train of Hangul Horror! Where we all board one train carriage, pretending not to know each other. All of a sudden we burst into unintelligible Korean, amking the rest of the passengers think they have wandered into the twilight zone, populated by weirdoes. :P ROFL! I think we will need Lahlita for this too, just so she can throw in the random dramatic "Shiro!" and "Andwae!!"
My other husband demanded dinner. I have to go to the store (but I have a CD player in my car, so I can keep listening) but then its right back to my craft room and my IPOD speakers.
Thank God for crockpots! Lemonade chicken for dinner!
HAhahahah TOP&GD MY husbands. Oh how I love them. Heheh Good for your sis. She's just like me. YAY for us! heheheh no seriously though. I'm not a fan of the kpop idol scene. More like the Kballads (so awesome!!). But Ever since I ran into bigbang I just love em. They are so different. So awesome!!! I just love all of them. My golly. I can not wait until my CD gets hers. Damn You ECONOMY SHIPPING!!! I AM NO COMMONER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GIVE ME MY HUSBANDS! :) Just saying.
Oh dear! I am so sorry for you PickmePICKME. You just called TOP your husband. :( I suggest you book the fastest flight out of the country, I don't know how long I can hold back Brookeve. God Speed!
*sigh* Holding unnie, back from demolishing fangirls seems to be a full time job. First I had to save Hyori cause he kissed her, then the Smurfette kissed him in the cell phone commercial and now PickmePICKME. Poor girls. :(
I don't want you to worry about the safety of the plane that you just boarded. Feel safe. Very safe. I don't take threats to my husband as seriously as Viola says. Ignore that smell, it's not gasoline...
By The Way, for all the TSA agents reading this: Yes, I got your lovin', kind, gentle hands all over my person dropping off and pickin' up my baby at the airport for Christmas. This was meant entirely in jest, so please do not take it seriously and come to my house and give me more of your lovin'.
Really? 'Cause... not so much in the States. I looked, oh I looked! For Hours. And then I prayed. And then I cussed, and threatened iTunes with horrid, horrid combustible death. Finally, I just decided that YesAsia and I were going to have to introduce ourselves. So I got it last night.
Yup, it's hiding, but it's in there....shoot you already ordered. Darn. Okay for others out there, let me hunt down where they stashed it, because I know it's not under k-pop.
Ah, it's under Music>Hip Hop/Rap> GD & TOP
Actually they had it hidden really well - you can't find it searching TOP or G-dragon. I first found it by searching for High High.
i'm lucky that my (more or less) local Asian CD/DVD shop keeps a pretty current inventory of kpop and they know me well enough now to save anything new of big bang and 2pm that comes through their store. is it sad that they know i'll be by to pick it up within a week of release? anyways, for these 2 groups (and epik high) i like to have the actual album for my collection... Asian albums are the best - they have like big fat booklets of pictures lol
GD & TOP was actually the first Asian album I've ever bought. My husband actually was looking at it, and he can't stand my weird taste in music... and my step-son was pretty excited to see something besides himself that came from Korea (Asian population in Memphis is somewhat... depressing).
Anyway, I have to rely on the Pony Express when I want something that's just a little different from Usher and Rhianna.
Itunes? No way. I didnt see it. All i saw was, not in your country or some bogus stuff like that. but I dont wanan buyit off itunes though. I want the CD in my hands. I bought paramore off of itunes and I regret it, because I had to recover my comp, and the cd wasnt in my hand!!!! T.T
P.S: I shan't run away from your unni, because I am no commoner! or a fangirl (i'm Their future wife--yes both of them...I dont mind becoming a mormon) LOL omg jk jk about the mormon thing. But I love GD, and TOP. They aren't idols, they are artist. Who also happens to rock my boat. :) yes I'm of age.
Look, I agreed to share alternate realities with lovenyc52 because she claims to have had prior claim (although how you can do that with someone's soul mate I have no clue) but I did not agree to an infinite alternate reality possibility. I think that you are just going to have to settle for claiming GD, 'cause T.O.P is mine. And you might think that you got the guts to spar with me over this issue, but you don't. You cannot be the future wife of a man who ALREADY has a wife: me. Our love was fated in the stars, and continues to bloom. To step between lovers like us would make you the crazy second lead robot that all KDrama lovers love to hate.
Other than that, you can be his fan, I'll let you do that.
don't worry, she's with me. we're having marathon listening sessions of GD&TOP intermixed with watching their MVs and stage performances. once in awhile we tussle over our claim on TOP but then get distracted by the smexiliciousness that he is on screen.
please don't make us leave the craft room. it's our haven. thanks.
It's okay, we can make my kid ride his bike to the corner store when he gets home from school. Children are good for slave labor like that. We just have to tip him.
Unnie, I think you are thinking too small to just use nephew as the sole slave labor. I suggest you harness all the fangirls nephew attracts and put them to work for you in the guise of evaluating their potential as daughter-in law material. :P I guarantee that pretty soon you will be drowning in moon pies and all purpose fetchers/carriers. :P
Did I tell you he has a small following (three girls, and one is a sixth grader! What are her parents thinking, letting her out of the house to stalk a boy?!?) that walk in front of our house, staring in our windows? I swear, I feel like I have to clean house every five minutes... and as I have a herd of teenage boys that have made camp on my sofa it really doesn't do any good.
You are looking at this all the wrong way! Those three girls out there are potential handmaidens who will wait on you hand and foot for the chance to be your daughter-in-law. Use that power unnie! Use it!
Think how much worse it would have been in Korea, with that red hair nephew really does look like a prettier and taller version of Tae Min. :P
Trying really really hard to avoid spoilers for SG!!
I marathoned What Happens in Bali (without planning to, of course.) Wow!
I hadn’t read much about it beforehand, so I can’t say that I was surprised how good it was. And I don’t know if good is the right word. Fascinating. Haunting. Poignant.
The characters fascinated me because they were people I would never get to know in real life. I gave up trying to guess what would happen next. I don’t think I stopped to take a break before episode 18.
Ha Ji Won was adorable and maddening. Totally different from Damo and Key Lime.
This was my first glimpse of Jo In Sung. His Jae Min took my breath away. Not because of looks or wardrobe, but I wanted to watch that character doing anything - fill out a tax form, reset the channels on his tv, watch his laundry dry, whatever. From the moment he complained to Soo-jung that everyone kept talking about turtles, I was hooked. ----- By the way, I recognized the Korean because of Joo Won’s chant “Kim suhanmoo keobugiwa durumi…”
Spoilers below !!!Avert your eyes
*******************************************
As far as the end, I totally understood why the writers needed to wrap it up quickly, and somewhat believably, but I rejected it.
In my version, Jae Min leaves his family, wondering Bali-like places listlessly, eventually running in to Soo Jung, who at that time had gotten tired of In-wook. They passionately reunite, move to California and live happily ever after.
********************************************
I think the ending written for Bali is perfect, if Jae Min did not kill the person he loved then found out that she loved him too and couldn't handle the feeling of *I love her - I find her cheating on me - I kill her - But she loves me too - even if she doesn't I still love her* (sorry I can't find words to describe that feeling) killing himself, it would never be a drama I cried so hard for.
Anyway, a happy ending is what everybody want, it's just not the ending chosen.
When I finally watched until Ha Ji Won's appearance, that did the trick. It's amazing how much more interest there is with the addition of the true star on the screen. You just don't want to take your eyes off her.
I got so rabid curious about what all the hushed voice whispering about the ending was, so, I did a really stupid thing. I only watched the last 5 minute of the finale..
BAD idea. Now I can never watch the show. :(
I did a very similar thing - when I took my break at ep 18, I read a WHIB review. I found out what happened but didn't know who did what to whom.
That's a toughie, to watch 20 episodes knowing the end...It is still great to watch the acting in this one, but maybe when you've gotten through all the other dramas on your list.
I have no problems knowing the ending first. It actually helps me get through stuff. I'm the type that will read the end first to see if the rest of the book is worth reading. For me, it's really more of the Journey and story rather than the ending that I love.
By the way, I agree on the writing because really nothing happens (as in no BIG events) except the relationships that unfolded before you.
And wasn't it a great prologue to the 4 characters to have them on that tour together? I loved how we got to meet Soo Jung. They never explain why they threw her in the pool...
The song for My Princess feels... dated. I can't pinpoint in my mind whether it's late 80s or early 90s but yeah. I don't want to say retro. I can't be that old. It's ok. That's how I feel about it.
I watched Sign and relayed my response as "like a Jdrama show", which I still feel after watching episode 2. I assume they're going to drag cases for more than two episodes.
I'm still enjoying Daddy's Girl. It could have been more, but it also could have been less. It's still holding my interest though. I guess it will wrap up soon? (It seemed planned for more than what it was given).
I was watching Daddy's Girl and then I heard it was supposed to end soon and I was a little garbled. I think I just feel like it still has so much story that needs to be told and yet there isn't enough time? I don't know, maybe because I didn't watch it very diligently and loyally I am a bit in the puddle.
For Dream High, I kind of have more fun reading javabeans and girlfriday's recap than watching the actual thing. Both My Princess and Dream High seems like the dramas I might want to watch after its complete. But to stick with it while its airing, it just doesn't hold me enough.
As for Sign, now I am interested in that. But for some reason I have yet to check it out. Hearing what you had to say about it though, I completely can envisage what you mean and am already getting a feel of a j-drama atmosphere. So with those in mind, I guess I'll have to go into Sign.
I couldn't last more than 3 mins of Sign, it was a bit over-screechy and full of self-importance for my liking. But then that's just me I guess.
Ain't touching Dream High or the Seong Seung-hun one with a ten-inch barge pole.
There's really honestly nothing at all I feel like watching from the currently airing shows, apart from Saengchori. The latter's just casual viewing anyways. There's President -- the synopsis of which promised to cover the 80s, but it's set in the current day -- at least the pilot episode was, so maybe they'll do it in like flashbacks or something. Eesh! At least if I was excited enough about even one of the cast members I'd run to it and stick fast, alas!
Watching Smile, You and at episode 17 now, I am so, so, so madly in love with the OTP! Have been cheesing, flailing, swooning, melting gooey mess for the past couple of hours. Loved the taxi ride, the pojangmacha fight scene was hilarious and well, pretty much everything.
Except then Hyun-soo's phone rings and it's the same ringtone that goes off in Giant to signal we're finally in the 21st century, interrupting Gang-mo Ree's little daydream of hyung. Must Seong-mo continue to haunt me? that ringtone totally stings my already tattered heart. *sob*
Anyway, back to Smile. Happy times.
I'm on a marathon viewing of Dream High, My Princess and Sign. Reminds myself of basic human needs like eating, bathing and sleeping before I get lost in six episodes of these new shows. *sigh*
Trust me Izzie sleeping is entirely window dressing. You really don't need it. Just look at me floating along with only a few hours of sleep.
*looks at huge dark circles in the mirror* I take it back, don't look at me. *puts on sunglasses indoors. * :P
LOL! :D What would Choi Siwon say when he hears about this? Has he seen your dark circles? (Hmm. Somehow that didn't sound right.)
I watched Dream High first, which was long overdue since Thursday, and enjoyed it though I found myself wanting to skip some scenes. So far, my favorite character in that show is the little girl. She's funny and cute but I hope she doesn't wander to the cute/annoying territory later on.
And then I watched My Princess... and I enjoyed it much more than Dream High despite the latter's gloss and shine. While I've had the urge to skip scenes in DH, I couldn't peel my eyes off My Princess. So far, I'm liking MP over DH.
id: Ah! Finally, you switched sides!
super-ego: Now that we've seen it, My Princess seems okay.
id: "Okay?!" I'm sure you were holding back squee at the towel scene!
super-ego: I was concerned over the girl's eye! She was holding up a peeled onion next to it. Must have hurt.
id: Did it hurt?
super-ego: I don't know. The girl kept a smile on.
id: I was talking about you holding back your squee. Must have hurt.
super-ego: Seriously! Do we really have to inhabit the same mind?
ego: I've been asking that question since day 1, you two.
I haven't seen Sign yet, so goodluck with my eyes and my body clock. :(
Along with sleep, sanity too is overrated. :P While the lack of sleep is adversely affecting my looks, I console myself with the thought that Siwon is pretty enough for both of us! :P
I bought the TIME BETWEEN DOG AND WOLF dvd!!!!!! Lee Jun Ki's beautiful face can now be seen clearly on my flat screen TV, instead of with only 360p on my computer. I just had to share this ;)
It's awesome how DramaCrazy already have English subs for My Princess. I'm gonna go watch when I wake up tomorrow. Lol.
Oh, anyone know this song, "Please Don't Go Away" by Wong Fei/Faye Wong? I think it's a very, very lovely song. Just learned 'bout it and wanna share.. :)
Ugh, I feel so betrayed by Secret Garden. I just feel such a sense of foreboding and I hate it. I'm glad I have that My Princess drama now. Ugh i wished I never read others comments and their thoughts about what would happen. GRRRRR.
Thats all I wanted to rant about. Since its been making me a lil down for the whole fricking week. Why did I get so invested? This reminds me of my 2nd relationship which just fizzlwent way downhill lol
I was watching Grey's Anatomy and one of the main characters decided to randomly marry a patient (probably terminal) so he could have her insurance. Completely kdrama territory.
i am trying to understand why k dramas are addictive
though i will have a 6 weeks break
i dont watch regular tv anymore interferes with my marathons
i prefer the shorter time frame of 20 episodes
but if you think of it kdrama 1 hours is actually i hour not 45 minutes with 15 minutes of ads and the music and language make so much more interesting
not that i really care entertaining and eye candies like binny make it interesting
and i seriously thinking of going to korea to teach english
still. if you're talking about season 7 ep 11, it was ONE HELL OF AN AMAZING ep.
i think teddy has attachment issues right now. i dunno. or dating issues... kkkkk~~~~XD i love that she's helping this guy. but i think it was post-psychiatrist-rebound thing. and as a health practitioner, i do not approve of what she did. it's unprofessional... it's sweet and kind. but unprofessional.>,<
Fearful I have become. My Princess Leia changed she has. An unknown language she speaks. A new knight she has. Lightsaber he has not. Black speedo he has.
Good day. I am Black Speedo not Black Widow (my little joke). I am a diplomat. You don't know what a diplomat is? Let me explain. I do diplomat stuff. Like wearing a black skimpy speedo. Showing my abs. Looking important. And showering half naked. Lots of showering half naked.
People keep grumbling that I am wooden. This is getting rather worrying. The other day, I was standing at the corner minding my own business thinking diplomat stuff. This hobo just comes and leans on me. So I said very politely and in my best diplomat voice : EXCUSE ME YOU ARE LEANING ON ME. DO YOU MIND MOVING A BIT? I LIKE TO HAVE MY OWN SPACE WHEN I AM THINKING DEEP DIPLOMAT STUFF.
The hobo jumped and squeaked HEY MAN I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WAS THERE. I THOUGHT YOU WAS A LAMP POST!
Then I went to my favourite restaurant for lunch and what do you know. A waiter grabbed me and marched me to an empty table. I said very politely: EXCUSE ME I CAN WALK ON MY OWN THANK YOU. The waiter screeched and dropped me like a hot potato and kept saying OMG! OMG! I COULD HAVE SWORN YOU WERE A TABLECLOTH!
So you think you have issues? I have more. Sigh. Oh well, that's a diplomat's life for you. To compensate, I just relax at home whenever I can with my lucky speedo. I've got quite a few speedos being a diplomat, but I have one favourite one. It's black, skimpy and slinky. I wear it every day. I call it my lucky charm. Nothing like my lucky speedo to remove all the stress and tension. It's so warm, so snug, so good to me. I love my lucky speedo so much I never sun it. I just soak it, wash it, then microwave it till it's toasty and crispy. It's been with me for years now. I wear, wash, microwave, and rewear the next day. Oh lord, what am I going to do if my lucky speedo leaves me one day?????
(Get a hold of yourself.....deep breaths now....1, 2....)
Then I just relax with a glass of good wine in my black skimpy speedo. I don't wear anything else btw. If it gets cold, I just turn the heater up to maximum. Clothes make me feel...hemmed in. I watch my favourite movie over and over again- Robin Hood: Men In Tights. I just love the tights....they remind me of my speedo.
So you can see me and speedo are practically inseparable. My speedo is my life. My speedo is an extension of myself. I am my speedo. My speedo is me. We are one.

Re: Mission: Speedos, the last frontier.
Dear sirs,
Although your attempts to kidnap my husband was unsuccessful, I still commend your effort. Though it was not at all necessary for the young female member of your team to pose as a massus in Siwon's health club. Really Not at all. *deep gouge marks appear on tabletop* It could have been forgivable if she succeed in her mission, but alas, the mission was the furthest thing from her mind at the time. She only wanted to touch her abs. :( *more gouge marks appear on the table*
But, the past is past and since we have established a good working relationship I would like to hire you again on behalf of most of the female population of Dramaland.
Your mission this time is not to kidnap a person but a piece of cloth, which I hope is significantly easier. Specifically, the speedo Mr. Hand Towel wears in the shower scene. Please have no moral qualms about carrying out your mission, rest assured you will be doing a good deed, and making very many people ver very happy. :P
P.s. You seem to be particularly concerned about the... *delicate shudder* "farting habits" of your targets. Although it gravely injures my lady like sensibilities to even mention such things, I am aware of what area of the anatomy a speedo covers. So, in all fairness to you I am willing to provide hazard pay. :P
We'd be glad to inform you that the female member of our team had been demoted to do office work indefinitely due to her unfavorable reaction to our last target, Mr. Choi Siwon. So we hope you could forgive our team for the hand marks she left on his abdomen. (Kidnapper's Driver: She didn't know about that, you i@#$%!) Oh! Pardon my tactlessness...
Anyway, we are very much acquainted with Mr. Hand Towel and his legendary Speedo. (If he hasn't been wearing that poor piece of cloth day in and day out, it wouldn't be legendary.) You might want to know why: he's our new team leader.
Yes, he uses the bodyguard stunt to cover for the kidnapping operations. (Quite brilliant of him, if you'd ask me.) That way he knows who the big fishes are.
So what you're asking of us is highly-risky. Our new boss never wants to part from his Speedo - and there's only one of it that he owns. (Shocked to know? Yesss... so were we when we first learned about it.) Everytime he takes a bath, he washes the Speedo at the same time. He even sings it lullabies, as if thanking it and putting it to sleep after a whole day of it sticking to his [tooooooooootttttt!]. And then he uses the hair dryer to blow it dry - ready for use, yet again. And again. And again. ad nauseaum. In short, he never lets it out of his sight and away from his [tooooooooootttttt!].
Please forgive us. We cannot carry out this mission. Our new boss knows at least five types of martial arts. The rest of use only know two. We can't defeat him even if we're many. His Speedo must be some sort of a power source - so we suspect. It works just like a titanium bracelet. (We believe it was made of titanium fabric. So shiny. So wearable. So durable.)
So there.
Please extend our regards to Mr. Choi Siwon. (And our female staff, Tae Seul's apology for the hand prints on his body.)
Hand prints! hand prints?! She left hand prints on the precious, molten-gold skin on my beloved and darling Siwon?! *nails score keyboards*
*deep breath* In the interest of protecting our working relationship, I accept your apology. Although, I think a demotion was too light a punishment. Please consider sending her to a Cassie meeting wearing an ELF shirt with the following text " SUJU rocks and DBSK is all broken up. Neener Neener."
Hmm.. on second thought I think that might be too harsh. No one deserves being torn apart by crazed fangirls who can give even the Maenads a run for their money. Allright, I will be satisfied with the demotion.
It truly pains me to see you reject my offer of employment. Also, it comes as a great surprise to me that your team leader is none other than Mr Hand Towel himself. Are you absolutely sure that The Speedo is his power source and nothing can counteract it's might?
I really hope you will reconsider my business proposition. What we need is a Delilah to Mr Hand Towel's Sampson. Someone cunning enough to remove The Speedo of Power from Mr Hand Towel. *worried frown* Do you think we also might need some hobbits and a volcanoe to finally destroy The Speedo?
If that is the case, I would be willing to finance a multi-racial Fellowship of The Speedo, The fate of Middle-Dramaland depends on it! :P
Do you really want to be in that close of contact with the Elf Lord again? You might not remember, but Siwon gave me quite a talking to the last time I let you two play together. There was this terrible spell placed upon you, and Siwon had to hold on as you turned into all sorts of atrocious monsters as a Fae test of his love for you. Then, while you were unconscious, I GOT BLAMED! Just like always, and I had to GO ON MY KNEES and apologize that I left you alone with him....
I love you dongsaeng, but if you keep this up I'm going to tell Siwon of your plans...
duhh I need help duhh can't get outa this junkyard duhh creepy yellow car's really getting on my nerves duhh one minute it's a car duhh next minute it's a robot duhh keeps transforming ALL DAY duhh I can't get no peaceful sleep duhh hey you moron duhhh make up your mind duhh you wanna be car or robot duhh
It might be good news to you that you no longer have to put an effort to acquire the Speedo.
Mr. Hand Towel called us for a quick meeting this morning, for which, according to him, we need to discuss an important matter. The entire gang was wondering why the venue had to be his kitchen, and why he had nothing on except a towel wrapped around his waist. So here's how the meeting transpired...
Our female staff, Tae Seul, dropped to the floor and wept upon sight of Mr. Hand Towel. We had to sedate her, because she kept crying, "Save me! Save me from myself! I don't want to be demoted any further! I have bills to pay!" While she was high, she kept mumbling, "Towel... Siwon... towel... where's the Speedo? towel... chocolate... abs... which one?... Siwon... towel... "
"Speaking of the Speedo..." MHT began, as he checked the temperature of the oven before him, "I caught a rumor that you were being contracted to nick my precious."
Precious, yes, he calls his Speedo that. Sometimes we confuse that he refers to his [tooooottttt!!!!].
"Sir, that..." we were about to reply. (Yes. We speak to him in unison.)
"... And I heard, it was Viola who offered you the job?" he cut us off and darted us a side-ward glare.
We immediately knelt before him and begged for his forgiveness. "We're sorry Boss! We told her it can't be done, but she insists! We couldn't just brush her off because she's a repeat and well-paying client." we cried, to which he chuckled.
And then he gave off a sigh. "Viola..." he spoke, looking at empty space, "so you survived my spell." At this point, we looked up and we swear, we saw his eyes glisten in a way that isn't human.
"Boss, you know her?" we asked.
He didn't answer. He just smiled and opened the oven door and out came his "precious" on a tray. (Turns out, his blow dryer broke down that's why he was in the kitchen drying up his Speedo in the oven.)
"Get up! All of you!" he ordered us as he extracted the tray from the oven.
As we stood up, we saw that the Speedo was glowing red. A writing that went around the waist glared the words "One pair to rule them all... and in the darkness bind them." The writings turned into unreadable characters before fading out.
MHT picked the Speedo off the tray like nothing. He turned to one of us and said, "Hold out your hands," to which our brother complied, only to scream in fear when MHT placed the Speedo on his hands. "Don't worry, it's quite cool to the touch," MHT assured him. And indeed, the Speedo didn't hurt our brother.
"Take it to Viola," he ordered us.
"But Boss!" we tried to argue. "This is your precious!"
"If that's what she wants, then that's what she gets." He then sheepishly smiled before he turned away to leave.
We could swear, we heard him laughing out loud from the other room. It gave us the shivers.
The Speedo glistened as we placed it in a protective box.
So, Miss Viola, should you still be interested in having the Speedo, please let us know and we'll arrange a meeting with you at the soonest possible time to hand it over. It's quite a burden lugging it around as it goes heavier by the minute. Also, we're already growing tired of keeping Tae Seul from snatching it away. Not to mention, dodging off constant attempts by mysterious hooded men to acquire the Speedo from us.
I wrote this moving poem as a tribute to my speedo.
A man without his speedo
Is like a house without an owner
A ship without a harbour
A bus without a driver
A pencil without an eraser
A soup pot without a cover
A shirt without a collar
A child without a mother
Excuse me, I would appreciate it if you don't call me Mr Hand Towel any more. I am not a towel. I am not fluff. I am a man. I have feelings.
I was once a hand towel, I admit. But, as I explained laboriously in one of my earlier open letters to this forum, I am in a state of BEING. I am in a state of flux. I am transforming from cloth to wood to man. It is no simple task indeed.
I can now safely say I am past the state of cloth. But I am now in the midst of struggling to break free from the state of wood. I can start off the day as a man, but a sudden compulsion can suddenly seize me and the wooden part of me then takes over. Yes, yes, much like the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde syndrome. What did you say? You watched Julia Roberts act as Mrs Jekyll? Oh, the frivolities of human nature! I am sharing with you my pain as a wooded individual and you talk about Julia Roberts?
To continue in the same frivolous vein, Iron Man is indeed my most hated movie of all time. It evokes a deep fear in me, that one day one of you here may deign to make a movie based on me called Wooden Man. No no, I am not referring to Forest Gump; THAT man was unfortunate enough to be possessed by an entire FOREST of Australian gum trees.
So from now henceforth please refer to me by my correct name, Mr Speedoman. I am particularly fond of this name because it reminds me of my beloved speedo. Thank you. Good day.
Oh dear god! ROFL!!! I am not sure if "The Kidnappers" and Don't Call Me Mr Handtowel
are the same person, but whoever you are you WIN at life! You are brilliantly and utterly hilarious. *deep bow* :)
My Beloved Microwave - How Much I Love Thee; Let Me Count the Ways
I use my microwave to:
1. warm up my frozen steak dinner.
2. blowdry my black speedo till it is warm and toasty.
3. warm up my frozen steak AND blowdry my black speedo side by side. Saves time and gives speedo a fragrant meaty musky smell.
4. blowdry my hair. Hair looks amazingly silky and shiny this way.
5. blowdry my armpit hair. Armpit hair turns out beautifully soft and naturally wavy this way.
6. blowdry my nostril hair. Clears nostrils, and makes nostril hair delightfully springy and perky.
7. In emergencies, when speedo cannot be washed, I pop my speedo into microwave for DRY CLEANING. Gives speedo a crispy crunchy feel. Can wear speedo for days and even weeks this way. Lets off an elusive crackly sound as I walk that soothes the ears.
I am not sure if “The Kidnappers” and Don’t Call Me Mr Handtowel are the same person
Ms. Viola, we are not. Also, we don't wear Speedo. We are boxer people. (So soft, so comfy, so airy...) *snaps out of it*
whoever you are you WIN at life!
Thank you. We hope our other clients would tell us this too. ;) Unfortunately, we've had more shenanigans than successful abductions. It all started with that farting guitar boy.
Excuse me, I would appreciate it if you don’t call me Mr Hand Towel any more.
But we thought that was a cool call sign! :( Oh well. How are we going to call you Mr. Speedo when you don't have the shiny trunks anymore? Can we call you Mr. Strange Burper instead? Or Well-Groomed Man, for an X-File-sy feel?
Gives speedo a crispy crunchy feel. Can wear speedo for days and even weeks this way. Lets off an elusive crackly sound as I walk that soothes the ears.
So that explains the awful smell. We thought it was from your burping boss! :D And the weird sound... all the while we thought we were going crazy hearing distant gunshots. (It's not easy being hardened criminals, you know. It makes us paranoid.) Tae Seul thought they were firecrackers, which gave her the constant urge to bring out the champagne and invite us all to a toast.
By the way, Boss... we would like to remind you that towels aren't very good substitute for underwear and they don't fit well in pants. Just sayin', cuz you look like an old man with your pants all bulgy. Would you like us to buy you a new pair of Speedo?
You know what, I'm seriously considering going WITHOUT my speedo, throw away my fetters, .....um....hang loose, you know what I mean, get in touch with the inner ME. Just worried I'll...um...tie myself into a knot though, if you get my drift.
Friday again! my winter break is sure going by very fast, but at least I'm getting some hours in at my part-time jobs and I'm watching dramas, so I can go into the new semester feeling both accomplished and well-rested.
Watched most of Lovers in Paris the week before. When I've read the ending years ago, I was like WTF, along with a lot of people. But when I watched it, i really liked it (where is javabeans 'small voice' font when i need it!) and understood it differently.
And just watched the mainland Chinese drama, Single Princesses and Blind Dates. Loved it! Cons: nonsensical, hated the doormat-y female leadl with a passion, the second male lead whose bad acting in the second half of the series made him unintentionally creepy, and all the cartoony evil characters who'd bully the main girl. Pros: I LOLed many times; the drama is more of an ensemble drama and I loved all the other characters (good thing they got almost as much screentime as the main couple); had one of the best proposals I've seen.
Tomorrow's Secret Garden episode 17 and I'm really scared that it's going to be angst all the way through. I've also read some "spoilers" for where the story is going to be going, but they were unconfirmed. However, if they are true, then I think the writer has been bodysnatched.
I'm watching My Princess to get in some lightheartedness. It is surprisingly fun to watch, especially when they put such superstars like SSH and KTH in funny situations. Their characters are also very likable and their camaraderie is cute.
Re SG, me too. I'm anxious. I unfortunately read some of the spoilers and while it did not give full info, it gave enough to make me very nervous for the characters. It's going to be an emotion-filled weekend I think!
I just finished watching the first two episodes of Dream High (actually, I skipped through a lot of it). I'll probably casually watch a few more episodes but I'll most likely just read the recaps - which I find a lot more entertaining than the actual show.
I really hope that What's Up will be more entertaining *crosses fingers*, the trailer was amazing so I have high hopes for that show. But there hasn't been much news on it. Has it been picked up by a network yet?
Well I don't have a macbook (I'm assumimng this works for any comp though) but I get my shows from am-addiction.com's forum. It's free to join and they have megaupload links to avi files of tons of shows! And they usually get them uploaded the same day the show airs. I don't know what I would do without them since aja-aja went members only. :)
I have a Mac, and it works for my drama addiction. Normally, I downloaded the Hanrel version of the drama on am addict, and softsubs from Viki. Then run them on VLC player. It works like a charm.
Go to some spoiler topic on Viki, they can tell you how to make the sub appear on the videos. But basically, just name the sub file and video file with the same name but different format ending, put both into the same folder, and then there you go
VLC Media Player will also let you load the subs files separately if you don't want to go to the trouble of renaming the files. I'm lazy so that's how I do it. ;)

I have more work that I can handle, I will be working tomorrow as well, but in this economy there is no room for complain,
I lost all interest in SG, "Dream High am My Princess" are doing well, hopefully they can stay with a good story line and do not "Go Down" like many other dramas in 2010!!
Peace to all!!!

Happy Friday!

Netbooks are still laptops, right?
That's all I can think of...

Again, thank you! :)

Is a netbook worth it? Money wise? Time wise? Size Wise? And drama wise?
money-wise: it depends on how much you really need it. needs vs. wants.
time-wise: please expound on this.
size-wise:
portability, yes.
document viewing and editing... for short ones - yes, for lengthy ones - no (or it depends on how knowledgeable you are on application shortcuts)
viewing videos/photos, yes.
editing videos/photos - basic, yes. advanced, no.
weight-wise, yes.
drama-wise, it depends on the specs of the netbook. (my netbook does fine. with DivX, great. ;) )

Oh the "time wise" thing- Like you know is a netbook really worth spending my time pondering over - or spending my time persuading my parents over.
Or it could be I just put that in there because I was on a roll of words. :P

If I may add... consider the condition of your back and your shoulders when thinking of the size & weight of the stuff that you carry around.
My back is in a not-so-good condition that's why I bought a netbook apart from having a regular laptop.

I currently have a Toshiba netbook and I love it!
Good luck.

I think that you are just going to have to settle for claiming GD, 'cause T.O.P is mine. And you might think that you got the guts to spar with me over this issue, but you don't. You cannot be the future wife of a man who ALREADY has a wife: me. Our love was fated in the stars, and continues to bloom.
What did you all think?

I think the ending written for Bali is perfect, if Jae Min did not kill the person he loved then found out that she loved him too and couldn't handle the feeling of *I love her - I find her cheating on me - I kill her - But she loves me too - even if she doesn't I still love her* (sorry I can't find words to describe that feeling) killing himself, it would never be a drama I cried so hard for.
Anyway, a happy ending is what everybody want, it's just not the ending chosen.

And my sanity.

i prefer the shorter time frame of 20 episodes
but if you think of it kdrama 1 hours is actually i hour not 45 minutes with 15 minutes of ads and the music and language make so much more interesting
not that i really care entertaining and eye candies like binny make it interesting

Don't Call Me Mr Hand Towel
January 8, 2011 at 8:52 PM

Madame,
We'd be glad to inform you that the female member of our team had been demoted to do office work indefinitely due to her unfavorable reaction to our last target, Mr.

Dear Kidnappers:

Madame,
It might be good news to you that you no longer have to put an effort to acquire the Speedo.
Please advise.

A man without his speedo

A soup pot without a cover
A shirt without a collar
A child without a mother
I am crying now......
Don't Call Me Mr Hand Towel
January 8, 2011 at 9:58 PM
Thank you. Good day.

I have a Mac, and it works for my drama addiction. Normally, I downloaded the Hanrel version of the drama on am addict, and softsubs from Viki. Then run them on VLC player. It works like a charm.
Go to some spoiler topic on Viki, they can tell you how to make the sub appear on the videos. But basically, just name the sub file and video file with the same name but different format ending, put both into the same folder, and then there you go
